Quarantine is a medical term for the act of keeping an object in enforced isolation for a period of time to limit or prevent the spread of disease or infection.
Quarantine may also refer to:
The Nickelodeon comedy-drama series, Zoey 101 originally aired from January 9, 2005 to May 2, 2008. A total of 61 episodes were aired, spanning four seasons.
Quarantine is a function of antivirus software that isolates infected files on a computer's hard disk. Files put in quarantine are no longer capable of infecting their hosting system.
In December, 1988, shortly after the Morris Worm, work started on Quarantine, an anti-malware and file reliability product. Released in April, 1989, Quarantine was the first such product to use file signature instead of viral signature methods.
The original Quarantine used Hunt's B-tree database of files with both their CRC16 and CRC-CCITT signatures. Doubling the signatures rendered useless, or at least immoderately difficult, attacks based on CRC invariant modifications. Release 2, April 1990, used a CRC-32 signature and one based on CRC-32 but with a few bits in each word shuffled. The subsequent MS-AV from Microsoft, designed by Check Point, apparently relied on only an eight bit checksum—at least out of a few thousand files there were hundreds with identical signatures.
Cog was a project at the Humanoid Robotics Group of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was based on the hypothesis that human-level intelligence requires gaining experience from interacting with humans, like human infants do. This in turn required many interactions with humans over a long period. Because Cog's behavior responded to what humans would consider appropriate and socially salient environmental stimuli, the robot was expected to act more human. This behavior also provided the robot with a better context for deciphering and imitating human behavior. This was intended to allow the robot to learn socially, as humans do.
As of 2003, all development of the project had ceased.
Today Cog is retired to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology museum.
Cog is an open source audio player for Mac OS X. The basic layout is a single-paned playlist interface with two retractable drawers, one for navigating the user's music folders and another for viewing audio file properties, like bitrate. Along with supporting most audio formats compatible with Mac OS X's Core Audio API, Cog supports a wide array of other audio formats, along with their metadata, which are otherwise unsupported on OS X.
In April 2006, Cog joined other OS X audio software Tag and Max in an effort by the respective authors to consolidate OS X open source audio software on the internet. Subsequently, the Cog website was redesigned to Tag and Max's website design, and its forums were also moved to the Tag and Max Forums. In July 2007, Cog moved to its own separate forums shortly before the release of version 0.06.
COG is a 6-piece metal band based in Metro Manila, Philippines.
COG's early beginnings reach back to 1999 when guitarists Joel Patricio and Eric Perlas started writing riffs together with the intent of forming a metal band. Yagi Olaguera joined shortly after and the three began writing original material. A few months down the line, Alan Po, then drummer of funk band Wild Waters, joined the lineup upon hearing some of the songs. Bass guitar duties were then taken by old school rocker Richie Ramos and by summer of 2000, the COG lineup was complete. The band started playing live shows in August 2000 and has since played in different venues in and around Metro Manila.
The band's first big break arrived when they had the chance to record with Maly Andres and Angie Rozul of Tracks Studios for the No Seat Affair compilation. Of the two songs recorded for the release, "Drone", a mostly instrumental piece, was graced by the saxophone playing of the band's friend and collaborator, Garon Honasan. Since then, he has formally joined the lineup and has integrated his sax playing into COG's new material.
Give me my board and I’ll skate till I die
I’ll be cruising down the streets screaming fuck the police
It’s a feelin I get that you cops will never touch upon
Cuz when I'm grinding away authority means nothing to me
I'm grinding away from this hell the cops, this fuckin country
They try to hold me down cage me like and animal treat me like a clown
From spot to spot we skate, destroy the property of the people we fuckin hate
Ya can’t stop me from rolling the streets
cuz it’s the closest thing that I've felt like I'm free
theres nothing like landing first try
when you’ve built up yer balls at the top of the flight
but when the cops kick you out for skating a curb
put the trucks to his face and grind him away
ya don’t understand what its like living here
the best spot to skate is like a stale beer
ya still get yer fix , but its no marble ledge
and with these hassling fucks
it puts me over the edge
don’t wanna pay fifteen dollas for 3 hours of fun
in cage full of pads and 40 other punks
so when they say get the fuck out of here
I start losing my mind cuz my boards all I got
I'm grinding away to another spot
I might as well just skate till I fuckin rot
And when the cops try to hold me down
