Python (genus)

Python, from the Greek word (πύθων/πύθωνας), is a genus of nonvenomous pythons found in Africa and Asia. Currently, 12 species are recognised. A member of this genus, P. reticulatus, is among the longest snake species and extant reptiles in the world.

Geographic range

In Africa, members of the genus are found in the tropics south of the Sahara, but not in the extreme south-western tip of southern Africa (Western Cape) or in Madagascar. In Asia, they are found from Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, including the Nicobar Islands, through Myanmar, east to Indochina, southern China, Hong Kong and Hainan, as well as in the Malayan region of Indonesia and the Philippines.

Some suggest that P. molurus and P. sebae have the potential to be problematic invasive species in South Florida. The United States Department of Agriculture reports that only Python molurus bivittatus is an invasive species in the United States. More recent data suggest that these pythons would not withstand winter climates north of Florida, contradicting previous research suggesting a more significant geographic potential range.

Pythons (album)

Pythons is the second studio album by indie rock band Surfer Blood. It was released in June 2013 under Sire Records, and produced by Gil Norton. Following the release of their EP, "Tarot Classics", Surfer Blood had been writing songs whilst on tour. The first song to be written for the album is technically "Prom Song", as they have had the guitar parts for this song for a few years now. The album features all the qualities that define Surfer Blood's sound, but is stripped of its Reverb and given a more polished production, as opposed to the production that took place in front-man John Paul Pitts apartment. "Pixies" guitarist Joey Santiago lent the band equipment such as Amplifiers and guitars during the album's production, as Norton is a close friend of his because he produced most of the Pixies discography.

Pythons 2

Pythons 2 (released on home media as Python II and sometimes listed in references as Python 2), is a science-fiction/horror film released as a Sci Fi Pictures television film on the Sci Fi Channel. A 2002 sequel to the 1999 film Python, it stars Billy Zabka, reprising his role as Greg Larson from the first film, Dana Ashbrook and Simmone Jade Mackinnon. Directed by Lee McConnell, it was produced by Jeffery Beach and Phillip Roth for UFO/Unified Film Organization and Python Productions. This film was dedicated to Janine Clark, who died somewhere in 2001.

Plot

One of a pair of giant bioengineered pythons with acidic venom and armor-like skin, created by a Russian and American joint military operation led by U.S. Army Colonel Robert Evans Jefferson, Jr. (Marcus Aurelius), escapes into Russia's Ural Mountains. Jefferson and his team go to retrieve it, but the plane carrying the captured python is shot down by Chechen terrorists, Russian troops led by Colonel Zubov (Ivaylo Geraskov) arrive, killing the terrorists and recapturing the python. However, they find disaster in a clandestine Russian military base, where the creature slaughters all the soldiers and scientists. The only survivor in the Military base is Colonel Zubov.
