Push and Shove

Push and Shove is the sixth studio album by American rock band No Doubt. It was released on September 21, 2012 by Interscope Records. The album serves as a comeback album for the band as their last album, Rock Steady, was released over ten years previously. A deluxe edition of Push and Shove features acoustic versions and remixes of several tracks and "Stand and Deliver", a song No Doubt had covered in 2009.

The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 having sold 115,000 copies during its first week. "Settle Down", the first single from the album, was released in July 2012 and received mild success, debuting and peaking at number thirty-four on the Billboard Hot 100. The album's title track features producers Major Lazer and Jamaican reggae artist Busy Signal, and was released as a promotional single the following month. "Looking Hot" was released as the second single from the album.

Background and development

No Doubt released their fifth studio album, Rock Steady, in December 2001. The album sold three million copies and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In April 2003, No Doubt went into hiatus to take a break to spend time with their families before starting to compile Everything in Time; The Singles 1992–2003, a greatest hits album featuring songs from their previous studio albums; and Boom Box, a box set compiling The Singles 1992–2003, Everything in Time, The Videos 1992–2003 and Live in the Tragic Kingdom, which would all be released on the same date. The main reason to go into hiatus was that in early 2003, lead singer Gwen Stefani started work on her 1980s-inspired new wave/dance-pop music side project, under which she released two solo albums: Love. Angel. Music. Baby. on November 22, 2004 and The Sweet Escape on December 4, 2006.

Push and Shove (song)

"Push and Shove" is a song by American rock band No Doubt, released as a promotional single from their sixth studio album of the same name. The song was written by Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, Reanno Gordon, Wesley Pentz, David Taylor, Ariel Rechtshaid and was produced by Major Lazer and Spike Stent. It features additional production from Major Lazer as well as vocals from Jamaican dancehall artist Busy Signal. The song blends ska, dub, reggae and dubstep.

"Push and Shove" premiered on the radio program On Air with Ryan Seacrest on August 29, 2012. No Doubt stated that they were unsure whether the track would be a single, where it was then later confirmed that "Looking Hot" would be released as the second single from the album instead. Bassist Tony Kanal stated "Push and Shove" was to No Doubt as "Bohemian Rhapsody" was to Queen. A music video for the song was uploaded to Vevo on September 25, 2012.

Background and release

After the group's hiatus for 5 years, the band began initial work on the album in March 2008, after Gwen Stefani wrapped the tour behind her second solo album, The Sweet Escape. Songwriting on the effort reportedly got off to a slow start because, according to a post from Stefani, she was distracted by her second pregnancy, though she was certain at the time that "this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far." The band reconvened at bassist Tony Kanal's personal studio in Hollywood after the tour concluded and spent the majority of 2010 writing and carefully polishing several demos. In January 2011, No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont posted a message letting fans know that the group transitioned to the Santa Monica studio of producer Spike Stent, who also worked on Rock Steady, to officially begin tracking the effort.

Push (professional wrestling)

In professional wrestling, a push is an attempt by the booker to make the wrestler win more matches and become more popular or more reviled with the fans depending on whether they are a heel or a face. A push can also be based on a single major win against a major star (for example, Shelton Benjamin's 2004 winning streak over Triple H), and it is not uncommon for a push to be accompanied by a turn or a change in the wrestler's gimmick. Pushing is usually done for new wrestlers. This is essentially the opposite of a bury (or depush), which in contrast to the high profile of a push is typically done with little or no fanfare. Sometimes the fans generate the push for a wrestler themselves when their approval for the wrestler's work generates a positive reaction from them that is not anticipated.

A push can also be attributed to a political shift in the promotion's offices. Cowboy Bill Watts, whose promotions always consisted of an African-American main event babyface, began pushing Ron Simmons, a midcarder, to main event status and eventually to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship upon being put in charge of World Championship Wrestling. In WWE, following the fallout from the Signature Pharmacy Scandal, smaller and less muscular wrestlers such as CM Punk and Jeff Hardy began to get pushed and Vince McMahon confirmed the paradigm shift by mentioning that today's fans are drawn by charisma and not size.

Push (Avril Lavigne song)

"Push" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, recorded for her fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby. It was written by Lavigne and Evan Taubenfeld, and its producer was Deryck Whibley. It was released as the promotional single in Japan on February 13, 2012, peaking at number 35 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart. The song has received positive reviews.

Background

In March 24, 2011, Avril asked her followers from Twitter which song should be the second single of Goodbye Lullaby, "Push" or "Smile". Then later, in the Polish version of the official site of the singer, it was announced that the chosen would be "Smile", which was released worldwide on May 6 of the same year. It reached the top five positions in countries like China, Turkey, Belgium and Japan. After the distribution of "Smile", the chosen as a focus of promotion of the album was "Wish You Were Here", managed a moderate commercial performance. It served as the last song of the album. "Push" until then had not received release, until that Epic Records, Lavigne's new label after leaving RCA, decided to release the same as promotional single digitally on Japanese territory, what happened in February 13, 2012. The CD edition was released on June 3, 2011.

The sixth season of the American television medical drama Grey's Anatomy, commenced airing on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) in the United States on September 24, 2009, and concluded on May 20, 2010. The season was produced by ABC Studios, in association with ShondaLand Production Company and The Mark Gordon Company; the showrunner being Shonda Rhimes. Heigl was released from her contract in the middle of the season, while T.R. Knight did not appear as George O'Malley, because Knight was released from his contract at the conclusion of season five. Main cast members Patrick Dempsey, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr., Sara Ramirez, Eric Dane, Chyler Leigh, and Kevin McKidd also returned, while previous recurring star Jessica Capshaw was promoted to a series regular, and Kim Raver was given star billing after the commencement of the season.
