Push (Pharoahe Monch song)

"Push" is the first single from Pharoahe Monch's 2007 album Desire. The single was released September 11, 2006 as a 12" vinyl, but was later released as a CD single and a digital download. Produced by Pharoahe Monch, the song features an upbeat sound and a prominent use of horns played by Tower of Power. It features encouraging raps provided by Pharoahe Monch as well as background vocals sung by MeLa Machinko and Showtyme. The song contains an interpolation from Joe Zawinul's "Country Preacher." Its music video, directed by Paul Minor, features Monch rapping during the New York City blackout of 1977. The song is also featured in the NBA series 2007 video game NBA Street Homecourt.

The song failed to chart, yet it received generally positive critical attention. According to Dave Maher of Pitchfork Media, "the song is an effective throwback to 70s funk" despite the fact that it "could be two or three times longer." John Murphy of musicOMH.com labels "Push" a "typically articulate and intense number," while hailing its overlooked "dark, dramatic" lyrics.Spin also hails "Push" citing Monch's powerful vocals and lyrics.

Nancy Lu

Push (Nancy Lu) is a fictional character who appears in the Marvel Comics's MC2 series Spider-Girl.

Fictional character biography

Nancy Lu was originally a member of a rival basketball team playing against May "Mayday" Parker's team. May (secretly Spider-Girl) was shocked when her team lost, as it seemed weird things were happening during the game. The ball seemed to move on its own during crucial plays. May's spider-sense kept buzzing whenever she got near Nancy, and curious to know more, she followed Nancy as Spider-Girl. While following Nancy, she observed the girl moving objects without touching them. Spider-Girl confronted Nancy, who admitted that she was a mutant with low-level telekinetic powers. Spider-Girl informed Nancy that she hoped that Nancy wasn't using her powers for her own personal gain. Nancy felt bad, and quit her basketball team. Spider-Girl realized that she was guilty of cheating as well, as she had used her spider-like powers during games, and quit her team too.

Push (TV series)

Push (also rendered PUSH) is a short-lived American primetime soap opera that aired on ABC. The series was about a group of young Olympic hopefuls in training at California Southern University. It aired just two episodes in April 1998 before being pulled from the air due to low ratings; a third episode aired on August 6, 1998. It was cancelled after 3 episodes, leaving 5 unaired, two of which, the fourth and fifth episodes, were originally planned to air.

The show is produced by Starboard Home Productions in association with Great Guns Films and Stu Segall Productions, and was distributed by Perry Pictures.

Absolute Return + Alpha (AR) was launched in September 2009, as a subsidiary of financial publisher Euromoney Institutional Investor.AR was formed when two magazines, Alpha and Absolute Return, were combined. The magazine publishes both online and print content. Its main focus is the hedge fund industry and its 3,500 fund managers, but the magazine also covers significant financial events and global research. The magazine features hedge fund rankings according to assets under management rankings, an annual ranking of the 25 highest paid hedge fund managers, and monthly tables of U.S. hedge fund performance data.

American singer Selena has released five studio albums, three live albums, one soundtrack and twenty-one compilation albums. Credited for elevating a music genre into the mainstream market, Selena remains the best-selling Tejano recording artist whose posthumous releases continue to outsell those of living musicians. As of 2015, the singer has sold 60 million copies worldwide, and was named the "Top Latin Artist of the '90s" and "Best-selling Latin Artist of the Decade" by Billboard magazine. As of 2010, Ven Conmigo had sold 500,000 copies in the United States. According to music critics, her next recording Entre a Mi Mundo (1992), was the "breakthrough album" of her musical career. The album and its lead single, "Como la Flor", helped launch the singer's career in Mexico.Entre a Mi Mundo peaked at number one on the Regional Mexican Albums chart for eight consecutive months; and was certified 6× platinum by the RIAA, signifying shipments of 600,000 units. Entre a Mi Mundo became the first Tejano recording by a female artist to sell over 300,000 copies.

Alpha (finance)

Alpha is a measure of the so-called active return on an investment, the performance of that investment compared to a suitable market index. An alpha of 1 means the investment's return on investment over a selected period of time was 1% better than the market during that same period, an alpha of -1 means the investment underperformed the market. Alpha is one of the five key measures in modern portfolio theory: alpha, beta, standard deviation, R-squared and the Sharpe ratio.

In modern financial markets, where index funds are widely available for purchase, alpha is commonly used to judge the performance of mutual funds and similar investments. As these funds include various fees normally expressed in percent terms, the fund has to maintain an alpha greater than its fees in order to provide positive gains compared to an index fund. Historically, the vast majority of traditional funds have had negative alphas, which has led to a flight of capital to index funds and non-traditional hedge funds.
