Topographic prominence

In topography, prominence characterizes the height of a mountain or hill's summit by the vertical distance between it and the lowest contour line encircling with no higher summit. It is a measure of the independence of a summit. A peak's key col is a unique point on this contour line and the parent peak is some higher mountain, selected according to various objective criteria.

Definitions

By convention, the prominence of Mount Everest, the Earth's highest mountain, is taken to equal the elevation of its summit above sea level. Apart from this special case, there are several equivalent definitions:

Prominence (2015 video game)

Prominence is a science fiction point and click adventure game developed by Digital Media Workshop, an independent video game developer located in New York. Gameplay involves puzzle-solving, character arcs, and a story of hope and humanity in the traditions of science fiction stories.

In August 2013 a demo version was released for review. On January 21, 2014, the game was Greenlit on the Valve Steam distribution platform. On July 22, 2015, it was announced that the developers had begun to publish a prologue on the Internet. Each week, a new episodic chapter was published online providing more information about the background of the characters, the game world and the colonizing mission. The full game was released on November 6, 2015.

Story

After living for generations as persecuted refugees, the Letarri people set their sights on a far-off planet as a promising new home. But when the interstellar mission to colonize the new world goes terribly awry, the fate of their people falls into the hands of a lone adventurer. It's up to the player to unravel the mystery of what happened. The game's title refers to the natural phenomenon of a solar prominence.

Angel Haze

Raykeea Roes Wilson (born July 10, 1992), better known by the stage name Angel Haze, is an American rapper and singer. In 2012, Haze released the EP Reservation for online and later signed a record deal with Universal Republic Records before it converted to Republic Records. On December 31, 2013, Haze released the debut album Dirty Gold, which features the singles "Echelon (It's My Way)" and "Battle Cry". In 2015 the project Back to the Woods was made available as a free download.

Early life

Raykeea Roes Wilson was born on July 10, 1992, in Detroit, Michigan to a military family. Wilson is a mix of African and Native American ancestry and a self-taught speaker of Tsalagi. Haze was raised in the Greater Apostolic Faith, but is no longer practicing. An interview with The Guardian, stated: "we all lived in the same community, within 10 minutes of each other. You weren't allowed to talk to anyone outside of that, you weren't allowed to wear jewelry, listen to music, to eat certain things, to date people...you weren't allowed to do pretty much anything." However, after a pastor threatened Wilson's mother, the family left the church and moved to Brooklyn, New York when Haze was 16 years old. Haze soon began delving into the world of secular music.

Biography

Guitarist Mark Brandon, bassist Owain North and vocalist Paul Usher met at an early age and played together in various lineups, however became serious about a career as a band following the recruitment of drummer Andrew Grant. Following a series of local gigs, the band caught the ear of rock legend Alan McGee in early 2004 who would subsequently sign the band to his Poptones label later that year.

The band gained momentum, supporting bands such as The Others and The Boxer Rebellion and doing their own headline tour surrounding the release of their first single Plus. The single received airplay from renowned DJs such as Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, who made it single of the week on his BBC 6 Music evening show. The single also received airplay from XFM where the band did a live session. The debut single Plus was released on 8 November to positive reviews, and charted at Number 57 in the Official Charts, a great accomplishment for a relatively unknown band.
