Project-X

Project-X is a scrolling shooter game for the Amiga computer released in 1992. It was also ported to DOS.

Developed and published by Team17, it was regarded as one of the best shooter games for that platform at the time, both for its technical excellence in graphics and sounds, and for its difficult and interesting gameplay. The game resembles Konami's side-scrolling shooter games such as Gradius, Salamander and Parodius.

Story

Taking place many years in the future in colonized space, military scientists have disposed of countless, defective military droids on an un-colonized terrestrial planet called Ryxx. The droids eventually become sentient and, by way of revenge, start an attack against mankind, using a station to continually create more war machines. It is the player's mission to undergo Project X and eliminate the droid forces.

Gameplay

In a classical scrolling shooter fashion, players control a spacecraft of their choosing battling with hundreds of alien ships. Various power-ups, numerous in the first level but increasingly rare afterwards, permit an exponential increase of the spacecraft's seven different weapons (Guns, Buildup, Side shots, Homing missiles, Plasma, Magma, Laserbeam).

Project X (2012 film)

Project X is a 2012 American comedy film directed by Nima Nourizadeh and written by Michael Bacall and Matt Drake based on a story by Bacall, and produced by director Todd Phillips. The film follows three friends—Thomas (Thomas Mann), Costa (Oliver Cooper) and J.B. (Jonathan Daniel Brown)—who plan to gain popularity by throwing a party, a plan which quickly escalates out of their control.

The title Project X was initially a placeholder for a final title, but interest generated by the secretive title kept it in place. A nationwide open casting call was employed to find fresh faces. The majority of the cast were sourced from this casting call, but a few with prior acting credits, such as Mann, were accepted after multiple auditions. Filming took place on sets in Los Angeles over five weeks on a US$12 million budget. The film is presented as a found footage home video from the perspective of an attendee using a camera to document the night's events.

Project X was released in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom on March 2, 2012, and grossed over $100 million worldwide during its theatrical run. Criticism focused on the "loathsome" behavior of the lead characters, the perceived misogyny and the disregard for the effects of drug use. Other reviews considered it funny and thrilling, and equated it to a modern incarnation of the 1978 comedy Animal House. Following release, incidents of large scale parties referenced or blamed the film as an inspiration.

Project X Zone

Project X Zone (プロジェクト クロスゾーン, Purojekuto Kurosu Zōn, pronounced "Cross Zone") is a crossover tactical role-playing game for the Nintendo 3DS developed by Banpresto and Monolith Soft with assistance from Capcom and Red Entertainment and published by Bandai Namco Games. The game is a follow up to the 2005 video game Namco × Capcom and features characters from Bandai Namco, Capcom, and Sega. The game was released on October 11, 2012 in Japan; June 25, 2013 in North America; and July 5, 2013 in Europe. A sequel was released in Japan in November 2015 and it is scheduled to be released in North America and Europe in February 2016.

Gameplay

Stages in Project X Zone take place in grid-based locations from the game's many crossover titles. Each friendly unit is made up of two characters (thus referred to as a Pair Unit), though a third character (or "Solo Unit") can be added for once-per-battle assistance. Unlike Namco × Capcom, units can move freely within their range on the field map, with no penalty for accessing treasure chests or destructible objects prior to attacking.

Project X Zone 2

Project X Zone 2, known in Japan as Project X Zone 2: Brave New World (プロジェクト クロスゾーン2：ブレイブニューワールド, Purojekuto Kurosu Zōn 2: Bureibu Nyū Wārudo), is a crossover tactical role-playing game for the Nintendo 3DS developed by Monolith Soft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and is the sequel to Project X Zone. Although the game is primarily a crossover between Capcom, Sega, and Bandai Namco Entertainment as with the previous installment, characters from Nintendo's Fire Emblem Awakening and Xenoblade Chronicles also make an appearance. The title arrived in Japan on November 12, 2015, and will be released in North America and Europe in February 2016.

Gameplay

Like its predecessor, Project X Zone is a tactical role-playing game in which players strategically maneuver their characters across a field to battle with the enemy. Characters are paired up into Pair Units, with Solo Units consisting of a single character able to assist them when linked together. In battle, players use well-timed attacks and combos to do as much damage to the opponent as possible before their turn ends.
