A primordium (/praɪˈmɔːrdiːəm/; plural: primordia) in embryology, is defined as an organ or tissue in its earliest recognizable stage of development.Cells of the primordium are called primordial cells. A primordium is the simplest set of cells capable of triggering growth of the would-be organ and the initial foundation from which an organ is able to grow. In flowering plants, a floral primordia gives rise to flowering plants.
Although it is frequently used term in plant biology, the terminology is used in biology of all multicellular organisms (for example: primordium of tooth in animals, primordium of leaf in plants or primordium of sporophore in mushroom.)
Plants produce both leaf and flower primordia cells at the shoot apical meristem (SAM). Primordia developments in plants is critical to the proper positioning and development of plant organs. The process of primordia development is intricately regulated by a set of genes that affect the positioning, growth and differentiation of the primordium. Genes like the STM (shoot meristem less) and CUC (cup-shaped cotyledon) are involved in defining the borders of the newly formed primordium.
Primordia is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Wormwood Studios and published by Wadjet Eye Games. It was released on December 5, 2012 and is available via streaming service Steam and DRM free on GOG.com. It has since been translated by fans into Russian and French; Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and German translations are also in progress.
Set in a post-apocalyptic setting, the game follows the story of the robot Horatio Nullbuilt (voiced by Logan Cunningham) and his droid companion Crispin Horatiobuilt (voiced by Abe Goldfarb). They inhabit the UNNIIC, a derelict airship stranded in a vast desert.
When an unknown, outsider robot assaults the UNNIIC and robs their only power source, Horatio and Crispin are forced to depart on a quest for energy that brings them to legendary city of Metropol.
Unlike in many adventure games, Primordia's puzzles are generally grounded in real-world logic and offer multiple solutions, a direct reflection of the game's writer and designer, Mark Yohalem's Harvard Law education and career as lawyer. How the player solves the puzzles—and what choices the player makes—determines which of the game's many endings takes place.
