Present Truth Magazine is an evangelical Christian magazine, started by Robert Brinsmead, a former Seventh-day Adventist.
The magazine was started by Robert Brinsmead in 1972. It was a free monthly publication.
The magazine's name was later changed to Verdict in 1978, following Brinsmead's rejection of major Adventist teachings. At that time, he stated in Verdict, as well, that this change was necessitated by the existence of a similarly titled Adventist periodical called "The Voice of Present Truth" (which began publication in 1963). Brinsmead's beliefs began to resemble liberal Christianity. It has ISSN 0198-7488 (or ISSN 0895-9951?), and is published from Fallbrook, California by Verdict Publications.
He wrote nothing for nearly ten years, until publishing Verdict again in 1998. His new articles showed a rejection of many orthodox Christian beliefs.
According to its charter, the Present Truth Magazine website is "produced and sponsored by the 'Gospel Friends Christian Fellowship', an association of evangelical Seventh-day Adventists... These views do not necessarily reflect the current views of Robert Brinsmead."
Truth magazine was both a weekly magazine and a monthly reader published from 1881 until 1905 in the United States. Its subtitle was "The Brightest of Weeklies".
The publication was founded in 1881 as a society journal. It was on hiatus from 1884 until 1886, and was revamped starting in 1891 under new editor Blakely Hall, who spiced up the publication by adding more pictures of women to its pages, more social satire, and color. Circulation grew to 50,000 subscribers at that point.
Originally a weekly, it transitioned to a monthly publication in 1898, among other numerous changes the publication regularly underwent to its contents and size. It ceased publication in 1905.

In 1981, the magazine's foundation purchased the Gospel Guardian and renamed the magazine Guardian of Truth. Similarly, the foundation financing the publication was re-named the Guardian of Truth Foundation.
