Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Nepali: पुष्पकमल दाहाल); born Chhabilal Dahal on 11 December 1954, commonly known as Prachanda (Nepali: प्रचण्ड [pɾətsəɳɖə])) is a Nepalese politician and chairman of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (UCPNM). He led a guerrilla war against the government and later served as Prime Minister of Nepal from 2008 to 2009.
Prachanda led the CPN (M) as it launched a communist insurgency on 13 February 1996. In the ensuing civil war, more than 17,000 Nepalese died. Ultimately elections were held in 2008 and the CPN (M) emerged as the strongest party. The Constituent Assembly of Nepal elected Prachanda as Prime Minister in August 2008.
Prachanda resigned as Prime Minister on 4 May 2009 after his attempt to sack the army chief, General Rookmangud Katawal, was opposed by President Ram Baran Yadav.
Prachanda was born in Dhikur Pokhari, a village in Kaski District, some 243 kilometres (151 mi) west of Nepal's capital Kathmandu. Prachanda spent much of his childhood and youth in Chitwan District. He received a diploma of science in agriculture (ISc-Ag) from Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in Rampur, Chitwan, and was once employed at a rural development project sponsored by USAID: the project site was Jajarkot. Prachanda's brother, Dr. Ganga Ram Dahal, graduated from the University of Reading, UK and is currently a Research Scientist at 'Rights to Resources International' based in Bangkok.
Lyrics: Nefen
Music: Pyracanda
The information flies proudly over the crowded place
the snow is on, just for you
you should feel safe, but fear is shown in your face
fireballs, a nightmare's coming through
Pre-chorus:
We don't nedd no rockets in the sky
too many people senselessly die
we don't need no low level flight
a life in peace, it's our right
Chorus:
And they fly - widely opened eyes as they die
Top gun
Who is the number one.
and they fly - they won't hear our cries
Top gun
and the madness goes on
Your military force was built to save our freedom
now you bring us all in danger
look for another place where your wargames can go on
it's irresponsible, our hearts are full of anger
Pre-chorusChorus
A sunny afternoon, peaceful but soon
the air will filled with noise
soon you see the flying boys
and suddenly you wake up dead
with an airplane on your head
Chorus:
But still they fly, here in our homeland's sky
the people's voice is not heard
that's all and they will just let you call
democracy is just a word
Pre-chorus
Chorus
