Portavadie (Scottish Gaelic: Port a' Mhadaidh) is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland.
Coordinates: 55°52′N 5°19′W / 55.867°N 5.317°W / 55.867; -5.317
The Portavadie is complex was built by the then Scottish Office for the purpose of constructing concrete platforms for extraction of oil from the North Sea. However, the intention was soon overtaken by acceptance that steel platforms were the future for the oil industry in Scotland. Despite suggestions to turn the complex into a holiday village, it lay redundant until in the mid 1980s the enclosed port was used by a local fish farm company.
Finally, in 2009, it was announced that the "ghost village" was to be demolished to allow development of a whisky bar owned by the marina
In late 2009 the marina was used for the first time to tie up boat for the Scottish series.
The new Portavadie Marina complex opened to the public in 2010 with accommodation, and a bar/restaurant.
The Portavadie Marina is opened a spa building completed with pools and a sea view.
It will be our deepest pleasure to invite you to our
ball
We will have cake and treasure – You simply must come
along
To our party, party, party, stay forever, say you will
Come be happy if you want to at the party, say you will
(only when you want)
The manacle is cut… It stops the swelling, but not much
The sense that they’re in control is what I’m dreading
Oh no
It’s our party, never leave us, pledge allegiance, say
you will
We will love you like no other, stay forever, say you
will
Speak only when you are spoken to
Listen for the signal…
It’s not nice to leave before the party is over…….
You simply must come along:
To the party, party, party, fun forever, say you will
Come be happy here forever at the party, say you will
You will do what we tell you
If you want to live
(only when you want)
Speak only when you are spoken to
Listen for the signal and begin
Here forever at the party, start the party, say you
will
Stay forever at the party
Listen for the signal
