The Ponale is a 7-kilometre (4mi) long river originating in Lake Ledro (Lago di Ledro).
The river first passes Molina di Ledro, Prè di Ledro and Biacesa, there feeding a fish farm. Starting from Biacesa the Ponale enters a steep canyon and after a cascade the Ponale flows into Lake Garda close to Porto del Ponale.
The works for the construction of the first section of Line 5, which includes the station Ponale, began in September 2007 and it was opened on 10 February 2013.
