Polyphia
Polyphia is an American instrumental progressive metal band based in Dallas, Texas, formed in 2010.
History
Polyphia first achieved mainstream success when the guitar play-through of "Impassion", from the EP Inspire, went viral in the progressive community on YouTube. Ever since, the band has continued to grow in popularity and have gone on several national tours sharing the stage with the likes of other prog giants such as Periphery, Between the Buried and Me, August Burns Red , among several others.
In addition to this, Polyphia has continued to write music; often with many guest soloists. They have featured guitarists Jason Richardson (Chelsea Grin, Born of Osiris, All Shall Perish), Aaron Marshall (Intervals), and both guitarists of Chon as well as other notable YouTube guitarists Rick Graham, Nick Johnston, and Jakub Żytecki in their music.
They state that their influence comes from artists of all genres. The band started out with a heavier shred oriented sound but have since matured into a more melodic conscious focused band. When describing Muse, Tim had said that the primary inspiration had come from pop and rap music, as to not draw influence from other members of their genre.
