Police cadet

A police cadet can refer either to a trainee police officer or to a member of a youth organisation in which young people learn about and/or participate in law enforcement and police work.

Many police departments in the United States offer police cadet programmes, as do a number of police forces in the United Kingdom.

Police Cadet '84

Police Cadet '84 (Chinese: 新紮師兄; Jyutping: Sun Jat Si Hing) is a 1984 TVB police drama TV series which starred then up and coming stars such as Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau, and Sean Lau. The story centers on young police cadets struggles and life at the Police Cadet Academy (based on Royal Hong Kong Police Cadet School). Tragedy, romance, conflicts, and intrigues were featured.

The series was immediately followed by two sequels titled "Police Cadet '85" (where the former cadets from the original series are now sworn police officers and also trainers at the police school) and "Police Cadet '88" (with characters rise through the ranks as CID officers dealing with criminal activities). Both sequels stars Tony Leung.

A 2004 Hong Kong film called "Moving Targets" (Chinese title "2004新紮師兄") starring Nicolas Tse, Edison Chen, Simon Yam, and Gillian Chung is based on this drama series.

Synopsis

Cheung Wai Kit joins the Police Cadet Academy school after graduating High School. At the Police Cadet Academy he meets 4 good friends that he goes through thick and thin with. He joins the Hong Kong Police force after graduating from Cadet school. His older half brother Cheung Ga Ming also joins the Hong Kong police force after graduating from University. Due to the stress and hecticness from work he begins to neglect his girlfriend Tse Wing Chi, she then finds comfort in his good friend and former cadet schoolmate Kiu Chi Ho. Who will she choose in the end?

Police Cadet '85

Police Cadet '85 (Chinese: 新紮師兄续集; Jyutping: San Jat Si Hing Juk Jap) is a 1985 TVB police drama TV series starring Tony Leung as male lead and Margie Tsang as female lead with Carina Lau, Chow Yun-fat, Jaime Chik, and Simon Yam in supporting roles. This is the 1st sequel and 2nd series in the Police Cadet trilogy.

Maggie Cheung, Sean Lau, Eddie Kwan, Lau Dan and Andy Dai characters from the 1st series "Police Cadet '84" are only briefly shown or mentioned. Richard Ng's character who played a minor role in the 1st series plays a more significant role in the 2nd series.

Synopsis

The continuing story of Cheung Wai Kit rise through the ranks of the Hong Kong Police department. Cheung Wai Kit is now a CID officer of Sgt. rank. His mom no longer has to sew doll clothes from home and they live in a nice apartment now. He finally has a friendly relationship with his father and step mother. The only thing missing in his life is love, his ex-girlfriend Tse Wing Chi has emigrated to Canada and doesn't plan on ever coming back to Hong Kong. Besides trying to find love again, he also has to deal with family issues as new relatives arrives in Hong Kong from China and corrupted cops who want to take him down.
