Playdate

Playdate is a British television dating programme that was made by Hamma & Glamma Productions for ITV. It was screened Monday to Fridays on ITV Play between 8.00pm and 10.00pm, and daily on ITV2 between 1.00am and 4.00am. Billed as "the UK’s first interactive TV dating show", the show's format is based around speed dating.

The show had one format: 7 days a week, the show was interactive: various singletons of both sexes were invited into the studio, and members of the public were invited to phone in and talk with the studio guests, known as "datees". Viewers were also invited to send text messages and picture messages to the "datees".

The show's presenters were Brendan Courtney, Dave O'Reilly, Giles Vickers Jones, Kat Shoob, Katy Pullinger, Zoe Hardman and former Big Brother winner Kate Lawler.

Playdate was axed with its final show being aired on 17 December. The Mint was shown in its slot on ITV2 and The Mint Extra shown in its slot on ITV Play. The Mint ceased broadcasting in 2007.

Playdate (CBC TV series)

Playdate is a Canadian drama anthology television series which aired on CBC Television from 1961 to 1964.

Premise

The series replaced General Motors Presents. Ed Moser, a story editor from that previous series, became executive producer of Playdate. He reduced the presence of Canadian script writers, featuring nine Canadian-written scripts in the final season of Playdate compared to 19 Canadian works featured in the final season of General Motors Presents.

Robert Goulet hosted the earliest episodes of Playdate, replaced by Christopher Plummer from 20 December 1961. From October 1962, episodes of the UK series The Jo Stafford Show were occasionally broadcast, billed by the CBC as Playdate Presents.... In September 1963, similar treatment was given to The Red Skelton Show, an American series, when it was sporadically broadcast in the Playdate time slot.

The CBC cancelled Playdate and Parade by June 1964, as part of a general reduction in variety programming for the 1964-65 season. In the months following the last Playdate episode, The Red Skelton Show was regularly seen in the time slot.

PlayDate

PlayDate is a casual alternative nightlife venue that hosts recurring events in over thirty cities across the United States, offering board games, card games, arcade games, and similar amusements for a wide range of adults. The concept, created in 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia by Imari Harvard, Ryan Hill, and Ronald Gaither, was designed to provide a “solution to the lack of creative social atmospheres and entertainment for adults.”

PlayDate boasts a variety of activities for the attendants at their organized events including food and drinks, music, and a variety of games – all while promoting an atmosphere for individuals to meet new people or maintain bonds with friends and coworkers. PlayDate is marketed as “a creative alternative to the typical night out, social event, or corporate function.”

The events promoted by PlayDate are aimed to target adults age 25-50 with an average household income of 60K+. These events can be specifically designed to fit the needs of many groups including private parties, birthday parties, office parties, family reunions, wedding receptions, religious events, charity events, fundraising opportunities and other celebrations. These events can be catered “for singles, couples, and groups of all ethnicities and backgrounds.”
