Pirkanmaa (Swedish: Birkaland, also known as Tampere Region in government documents), is a region of Finland. It borders on the regions of Satakunta, Tavastia Proper, Päijänne Tavastia, Southern Ostrobothnia, Central Finland and Southwest Finland.
Pirkanmaa includes 22 municipalities of which 11 have city status. The cities are marked in bold in the following list.

Pirkanmaa (formerly Häme North) is an electoral district represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). It covers the administrative region of Pirkanmaa, with a population of 453,978 (as of 2002). Pirkanmaa currently elects 18 members of the Eduskunta.
The constituency is largely urban, centred on the traditionally working-class city of Tampere. The largest party in the parliamentary elections has been the Social Democratic Party of Finland, although it has as many seats as the conservative National Coalition.
