Phuq is an English producer of wonky - an experimental blend of breakcore, gabber, IDM and various other styles of electronic music.
Born in 1983 in Essex, England, he is currently based in London.
Phuq started to produce improvised industrial music and noise music under the moniker Destroy All Girls (and various anagrams of this name) in around 1995. From 2000–2004, he produced more melodic/traditionally structured, experimental electronic music (amongst many other pseudonyms) as Kesaraporn Duangsawan. In 2004, he started producing harder, more breakcore/squat party-influenced tracks under the name Phuq and has also occasionally collaborated with lo-fi musician and audio-visual artist Shortfacedbear, as Meme.
Phuq has founded several independent record labels – Next Step (2000–2004), Bad Sekta (2005–present) and Elfkore (2006) and has also released music under various pseudonyms for the labels Bad Sekta, Bit Crusher, Elfkore, Love Love, Munchkin, Next Step and Sociopath. He also initiated a small publishing imprint, Twenty Third in 2009, covering "matters of subcultural interest", as well as writing for various independent publications.
P.H.U.Q. is the second full length album by British Rock band The Wildhearts, which was released on 22 May 1995 on East West Records and entered the UK Albums Chart at number 6.
Original guitarist/singer CJ was only present for some of the early recording sessions for this album and was later fired by group leader Ginger. Subsequently, some of the album's songs were recorded with only one guitar.
It was the band's original vision to follow up Earth vs the Wildhearts with a double album, to include longer, more intricate songs such as "Inglorious" and "Do The Channel Bop." However, lack of support from their record label, EastWest, meant that six songs written by that point were instead released as a fan club-only mini-album, Fishing for Luckies, prior to the release of P.H.U.Q.
Ginger has said the title of the album is pronounced "fuck" in the Ask Ginger section of the band's official website.
