Phil Lewis

Philip Francis Lewis, better known as Phil Lewis, is an English vocalist for the American hard rock band L.A. Guns. He was born on January 9, 1957 in London, England. He has lived and worked in the U.S. since the 1980s but was privately educated at Royal Russell School in Surrey, England.

Early work

Phil Lewis started the band Girl with guitarist Gerry Laffy in 1978. They put an ad in Melody Maker for a “peroxide guitar hero,” and Phil Collen (current guitarist of Def Leppard) answered. They were soon joined by drummer Dave Gaynor and bassist Mark Megary. Megary was replaced shortly thereafter by Laffy’s brother, Simon Laffy. They signed a record deal with Don Arden’s label, Jet Records in 1979 and released their first album, Sheer Greed, in 1980. Later band members included Pete Barnacle, Bryson Graham, and Pete Bonas. They released their second album, Wasted Youth in 1982. Phil Collen left the band in 1982 to join Def Leppard, and the band broke up shortly thereafter. Their third and final album, Killing Time, was released in 1997. It consisted of leftover material from the first two albums as well as tracks that were written for an album that never materialized.

Phil Lewis (baseball)

Philip Lewis (October 7, 1883 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – August 8, 1959 in Port Wentworth, Georgia), was a professional baseball player who played shortstop from 1905 to 1908 for the Brooklyn Superbas. He attended Cornell University and served in World War I.

Philip David Lewis (born 4 October 1981) is an English cricketer. Lewis is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast-medium. He was born in Liss, Hampshire.

Having played Second XI cricket for the Somerset Second XI in 2002, Lewis made his first-class debut for Loughborough UCCE against Surrey in 2003. He appeared in 4 further first-class matches for Loughborough UCCE, the last coming against Sussex in 2004. In his 5 matches, he scored 115 runs at a batting average of 28.75, with a high score of 43 not out. With the ball, he took 10 wickets at a bowling average of 40.20, with best figures of 3/58.

Lewis made his debut for Dorset in the 2005 Minor Counties Championship against Wales Minor Counties. He played 2 further matches for Dorset, against Berkshire in 2006 and Herefordshire. He also played a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match against Staffordshire in 2006.
