Schiller has over twenty four years of experience in product marketing and management, including seventeen[1] years at Apple in various capacities. His previous experience also included positions at Macromedia (Vice President of Product Marketing), FirePower Systems, Inc. (Director of Product Marketing), Nolan, Norton & Company and Massachusetts General Hospital (Programmer and Systems Analyst).

At Apple, Schiller was instrumental in the formation and marketing of iMac, iBook, PowerBook G4, iPod, Mac OS X, and subsequent products.

Schiller frequently participated in a supporting role in keynote presentations given by Steve Jobs, usually presenting new products, like the iPhone and the iPad. During Steve Jobs's medical leave of absence, he presented numerous keynote presentations himself (with supporting segments by other Apple staff), including Apple's last appearance at IDG's Macworld trade show on January 6, 2009 and the WWDC keynote on June 8, 2009. Both presentations, held in San Francisco, were typically presented by Jobs himself. Among the things announced at these events were the updated MacBook Pro lines, the new iPhone 3GS, new versions of the iLife and iWork suites as well as pricing and DRM changes to the iTunes Music Store.

On January 19, 2012 he gave the keynote at the Apple Special event, introducing iBooks 2 and iTunes U for iOS devices.

Famous quotes by Phil Schiller:

"This is a real but minor issue involving a vendor quality problem in a small number of units. In fact, this issue has affected less than 1/10 of 1 per cent of the total iPod nano units that we've shipped. It is not a design issue."
"We have flexibility to do many things."
"[And that's just the obvious stuff. The click wheel on the front had to be reinvented to fit the Nano's ridiculously slim 6.9-mm profile. Ditto the battery and chips.] We use every fraction of a millimeter of space to get things in there, ... It's like a puzzle to fit all that stuff together. It has the tightest tolerances of anything we've ever made in the history of this company."
"We have received very few calls from customers reporting this problem - we do not think this is a widespread issue. If customers are concerned about scratching we suggest they use one of the many iPod Nano cases to protect their iPod."
"It is not a design issue,"
"People for the first time are getting an Apple product with the iPod and seeing how great it is and are thinking about checking out our computers too."
"We think about making it so easy that a second-grader can use it, mom and dad at home can use it. The fun is in making your own movie, putting together your own content. It's such an emotional experience to see your kids and yourself and your friends in your own movie."
"And I think we all have a story inside we want to tell and here's a chance to finally be able to do it."
"We always like to have more customers and we haven't stopped working hard to gain more. We are very proud that, over the last three quarters, our business has been growing twice as fast as the rest of the industry."
