Shrimp paste

Shrimp paste or shrimp sauce, is a common ingredient used in Southeast Asian and Southern Chinese cuisine. It is known as terasi (also spelled trassi, terasie) in Indonesian, ngapi (ငါးပိ [ŋəpḭ]) in Burmese, kapi (กะปิ  [kapìʔ]) in Thai, Khmer (កាពិ [kaapiʔ]) and Lao (ກະປິ  [kapíʔ]), belacan (also spelled belachan, blachang) in Malay, mắm ruốc, mắm tép and mắm tôm in Vietnamese (the name depends on the shrimp used),bagoong alamang (also known as bagoong aramang) in Tagalog, haam ha/ha jeung in Cantonese Chinese and hom ha/hae ko (Pe̍h-ōe-jī: hê-ko) in Min Nan Chinese. The Chakma people from the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh, who call it sidol, use shrimp paste extensively in their cuisine.

It is made from fermented ground shrimp mixed with salt. Some versions are in its wet form such as those in Vietnam and other versions are sun-dried and either cut into fist-sized rectangular blocks or sold in bulk. It is an essential ingredient in many curries and sauces. Shrimp paste can be found in most meals in Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. It is often an ingredient in dip for fish or vegetables.

Șeica Mare

Şeica Mare (German: Marktschelken; Hungarian: Nagyselyk) is a commune located in Sibiu County, Romania. It is composed of six villages: Boarta, Buia, Mighindoala, Petiş, Şeica Mare and Ştenea. Calvaser (Kaltwasser; Hidegvíz) was also a village until the late 20th century, when it was absorbed by Şeica Mare village.

At the 2011 census, 88.8% of inhabitants were Romanians, 6% Hungarians, 4.2% Roma and 1% Germans. Secia mare is twinned with CHARD

Villages

Buia village was first attested in a document of 1269, under the name of poss Bulla. In 1918, it had 1167 residents, of whom 736 were Romanians and the rest Germans and Hungarians. By 2002, the population was down to 634: 516 Romanians, 104 Hungarians and three Roma. The village is in the southern part of the commune, linked to Șeica Mare by an 11 km stretch of county road.Farkas Bolyai was born there in 1775.

Mighindoala (German: Engenthal, meaning "Angels' Valley",Hungarian: Ingodály) is a small village in the Şeica Mare commune.
