Peter Rogers

Peter Rogers (20 February 1914 – 14 April 2009) was an English film producer. He is best known for his involvement in the making of the Carry On series of films.

Life and career

Rogers began his career as a journalist for his local paper, before graduating to scriptwriting religious informational films. He progressed to film production, working with director Gerald Thomas, the first work being a production for the Children's Film Foundation. Rogers is best known as producer of the Carry On series of British comedy films, beginning with Carry On Sergeant in 1958. There were 31 films in all. Rogers had also been linked with a further instalment, Carry On London, which has been in pre-production for several years, but since his death seems unlikely to be made.

The majority of Rogers' work, including all the Carry On films, were made at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England. His other credits included Appointment with Venus starring David Niven, and Time Lock in which Sean Connery made one of his earliest film appearances.

Peter Rogers (rugby union)

Peter John Daniel Rogers (born 20 January 1969, Maidstone, England) is a former Wales international rugby union player. Rogers attended Llandovery College in Wales before playing rugby in South Africa and he was initially implicated in the 'grannygate' scandal before being exonerated.

A prop, Rogers attained 18 caps for Wales between 1999 and 2000. He played club rugby for Gauteng Falcons (Transvaal), Bridgend RFC, Maesteg RFC, Pirates Johannesburg, London Irish, Roma, Newport RFC, Cardiff RFC.

Rogers came out of retirement for the 2007-08 season, where he played for the semi-professional Welsh side Bridgend Ravens in the Welsh Principality Premiership.

Peter Rogers (born 24 October 1974 in Barham, New South Wales) is a former Australian professional road racing cyclist.

Cycling career

Peter is the oldest of three brothers, all successful cyclists His younger brother Dean Rogers was the first ever Australian Junior World Champion, winning the Time Trial in Quito, Ecuador in 1994 His youngest brother, Michael Rogers is a professional cyclist. who has won three world time-trial championships.

Peter started competitive cycling at age 14 with the Canberra Cycling Club. After a racing season in The Netherlands, he turned professional in 1997 at age 23 with the Giant-Australian Institute of Sport team under the GIANT-AIS Sports Director and Australian National Coach, German born Heiko Salzwedel. During this period the team's European headquarters were based in Koblenz/Hahn, Germany.

He represented Australia in the road race at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but failed to finish.

In 1998, after the dissolution of the Australian GIANT-AIS Cycling Team, Rogers then went, along with GIANT-AIS team mate Matt White through Italian team Amore & Vita–ForzArcore (1998) and to various German teams, such as Olympia-Die Continentale (1999), Team Hohenfelder-Concorde (2000) and the Australian-based team Iteamnova.com in 2002 before he retired from road racing. Rogers lives in Canberra, Australia.
