Peter Burke (Australian footballer)

Peter Burke (born 24 May 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented the Fitzroy Football Club and the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Burke played in Fitzroy's 1982 Under 19's premiership side, one of the last premierships in any form won by the club before making his debut in 1984. After two years with the Lions, and a season out of the game, Burke made the move to Richmond for the 1987 season, where he added two games to his league total before leaving the VFL.

Peter Burke (rugby union)

Peter Standish Burke ONZM (born 22 September 1927) is a former New Zealand rugby union player, coach and administrator. A lock and number 8, Burke represented Bay of Plenty, Auckland and Taranaki at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1951, 1955 and 1957. He played 12 matches for the All Blacks including three internationals.

After retiring as a player, Burke went on to contribute to rugby as a selector, coach and administrator. He was a Taranaki selector from 1960 to 1968, and assistant coach of that union from 1963 to 1965. He also served as president of the Taranaki Rugby Union. From 1970 to 1975 he was a North Island selector and he became a New Zealand selector in 1978. Burke was the All Blacks coach during the 1981 Springbok Tour and also for the tour of Romania and France later that year. In 1994 he served as president of the New Zealand Rugby Union.

In the 1997 Queen's Birthday Honours, Burke was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to rugby.

Peter Burke (historian)

Peter Burke (born 1937 in Stanmore, England) is a British historian and professor. He was born to a Roman Catholic father and Jewish mother (who later converted to Roman Catholicism). He was educated by the Jesuits and at St John's College, Oxford and was a doctoral candidate at St Antony's College.

From 1962 to 1979, he was part of the School of European Studies at University of Sussex, before moving to the University of Cambridge, where he holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Cultural History and Fellow of Emmanuel College. Burke is celebrated as a historian not only of the early modern era, but one who emphasizes the relevance of social and cultural history to modern issues. He is married to Brazilian historian Maria Lúcia Garcia Pallares-Burke.

Peter Bourke

Peter Bourke (born 23 April 1958) is an Australian former middle-distance runner.

He is best known for winning the 800 metres at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.

Peter Burke (footballer)

Peter Burke is an Irish former footballer. After serving in the Irish Army, Burke joined newly formed Derry City F.C. On 22 August 1929, he scored the club's first ever goal in the Irish League, in front of a crowd of 7,500 people against Glentoran at Derry City's home ground, Brandywell Stadium.
