Performance

A performance, in the performing arts, generally comprises an event in which a performer or group of performers present one or more works of art to an audience. Usually the performers participate in rehearsals beforehand. Afterwards audience members often applaud. After a performance, performance measurement sometimes occurs. Performance measurement is the process of collecting, analyzing and reporting information regarding the performance of an individual, group, organization, system or component.

The means of expressing appreciation can vary by culture. Chinese performers will clap with the audience at the end of a performance; the return applause signals "thank you" to the audience. In Japan, folk performing-arts performances commonly attract individuals who take photographs, sometimes getting up to the stage and within inches of performer's faces.

Sometimes the dividing line between performer and the audience may become blurred, as in the example of "participatory theatre" where audience members get involved in the production.

PerForm

PerForm and PerForm PRO were electronic form programs, initially designed to work under GEM in DOS. Later versions were designed to work in Windows 3.1, at which point it was succeeded by FormFlow.

The initial version of PerForm was created in 1988 and was the first product released by Canadian software firm Delrina, which became best known for its later fax software program, WinFax.

The electronic forms division of Delrina was sold to JetForm in 1996. JetForm in turn was bought by Adobe, and the electronic forms products were officially discontinued in 2004.

Perform.00

Perform.00 is a collection of Howard Jones favorites re-recorded by Jones and the backup band that accompanied him on tour to support his 1998 album People, and on the VH-1 Big Rewind tour of the late 90s (where he appeared on the same bill as The Human League and Culture Club). The bassist for the tours and on this album was Nick Beggs, known better as the bassist for Kajagoogoo. Drummer Kevin Wilkinson and guitarist Robin Boult also contributed to both projects.

Many of the artist's older songs are given an updated, stadium rock sound; Jones plays mostly piano and organ, with only an occasional hint of his trademark synthesizers. There are three new tracks: "Love Is A Good Thing", "I Must Go" and "Someone You Need" (a collaboration with Duncan Sheik).
