Peach

The peach (Prunus persica) is a deciduous tree native to the region of Northwest China between the Tarim Basin and the north slopes of the Kunlun Shan mountains, where it was first domesticated and cultivated. It bears an edible juicy fruit called a peach or a nectarine.

The specific epithet persica refers to its widespread cultivation in Persia, whence it was transplanted to Europe. It belongs to the genus Prunus which includes the cherry, apricot, almond and plum, in the rose family. The peach is classified with the almond in the subgenus Amygdalus, distinguished from the other subgenera by the corrugated seed shell.

Peach and nectarines are the same species, even though they are regarded commercially as different fruits. In contrast to peaches, whose fruits present the characteristic fuzz on the skin, nectarines are characterized by the absence of fruit-skin trichomes (fuzz-less fruit); genetic studies suggest nectarines are produced due to a recessive allele, whereas peaches are produced from a dominant allele for fuzzy skin.

Peaches & Herb are an American vocalist duo, once comprising Herb Fame (born October 1, 1942) and Francine "Peaches" Hurd Barker (April 28, 1947 – August 13, 2005). Herb has remained a constant in "Peaches & Herb" since its creation in 1966, while seven different women have filled the role of "Peaches."

History

Herb Fame (born Herbert Feemster, October 1, 1942, in Anacostia, Washington, D.C.), sang in church and neighborhood groups as a child. After graduation from high school, he worked in a local record store where he met record producer Van McCoy and was signed to Columbia subsidiary Date Records by McCoy and A&R executive Dave Kapralik. Francine "Peaches" Barker (born Francine Edna Hurd, April 28, 1947, in Washington, D.C.), using the stage name Francine Day, started a singing trio initially dubbed The Darlettes and later renamed The Sweet Things after a change of record label to Date Records. Having produced two releases for the trio, McCoy decided to record Feemster/Fame and Hurd/Day together at Kapralik's suggestion. The resulting single, "We're in This Thing Together," was distributed to radio stations but went nowhere for months until December 1966, when a St. Louis disc jockey broadcast the single's B-side, a revival of the 1934 hit "Let's Fall in Love."

Lori Fullington

Lori Fullington (born May 17, 1967) is an American retired professional wrestling manager. She is best known for her appearances with Extreme Championship Wrestling under her real name and as Peaches.

Career

Fullington debuted in Extreme Championship Wrestling in the early to mid 1990s under the ring name "Peaches" alongside her husband, The Sandman. The name was a reference to the song "Mr. Sandman", which includes the line "like peaches and cream". She was also sometimes referred to as Miss Peaches.

In 1994, while temporarily blinded following a match, The Sandman inadvertently struck his wife. When The Sandman recovered and saw his tag team partner Tommy Cairo assisting Peaches to her feet, he attacked Cairo. The Sandman subsequently became estranged from his wife (claiming "life's a bitch, and then you marry one"), and Peaches became the valet of Cairo.

The Sandman, who had abandoned his "surfer" gimmick in favour of a "pimp" gimmick, claimed that Cairo had neglected to pay one of The Sandman's prostitutes, Woman, who had convinced The Sandman that Cairo had slept with both her and Peaches. The Sandman began harassing Fullington and Cairo, demanding Cairo "Pay Your Bills!"

Oxygen (Marie Serneholt song)

"Oxygen" is the third single by the Swedish pop music singer Marie Serneholt, released from her first album Enjoy the Ride in 2006.

After so much speculation about Marie's third single, promotional copies of the song were sent to Swedish radios in the second week of October. The video was premiered on 26 October on Swedish Music Channels. The song had already been released for digital download on 9 October. No physical release was made for this single. The song peaked at number seventy-six, failing to chart inside the Top 60.

Music video

The video was filmed in Stockholm, Sweden, on 22 September and it was premiered on 26 October.

Oxygen (Baptiste Giabiconi album)

Oxygen is the debut album from French male model and singer Baptiste Giabiconi. It was released on 24 September 2012 on the My Major Company fan-supported record label. The album is in English except for the track "Speed of Light (L'amour et les étoiles)", which is bilingual with some additional French lyrics. It was produced by Pete Boxta Martin and recorded in London. It went straight into #1 on the SNEP official French Albums Chart dated 30 September 2012.

Oxygen (Hadouken! song)

"Oxygen" is a song by British new rave band Hadouken!. It was released as the second single from their third studio album Every Weekend on 7 November 2010. The EP was released later on 18 January 2011.

Background

"Oxygen" is the second of two songs (the other being "Mecha Love") that the band had confirmed to be released as singles in 2010, before the rest of their third album is recorded in January 2011.

The song was mistakenly released on Beatport on the same date as "Mecha Love", several weeks before the announced release date. To compensate for this, the official release date was pushed back into December and the release was extended into an EP.

Music video

The music video was first published through Hadouken!'s YouTube channel on 8 January 2011. It features scenes of a woman in a bath tub attached to wires while the band is performing the song. An alternate video for the song was also released on 27 January.
