Paul Warren Fairman (1916-1977) was an editor and writer in a variety of genres under his own name and under pseudonyms. His detective story "Late Rain" was published in the February 1947 issue of Mammoth Detective. He published his story "No Teeth for the Tiger" in the February 1950 issue of Amazing Stories. Two years later, he was the founding editor of If, but only edited four issues. In 1955, he became the editor of Amazing Stories and Fantastic. He held that dual position until 1958. His science fiction short stories "Deadly City" and "The Cosmic Frame" were made into motion pictures.
After leaving Ziff-Davis, the magazines' publisher, he focused on writing his own work, often under different names. He ghost-wrote several juveniles, such as The Runaway Robot (1965), based on outlines by Lester del Rey, whose name appeared on the books. He also wrote the Sherlock Holmes part of Ellery Queen's A Study In Terror (1966), in which Ellery finds a previously unknown Sherlock Holmes manuscript.
We’ve all got things we wish we would’ve said
And you can’t explain the cold to someone lying in their bed
And can’t you can’t give out to anyone if u give in and surrender to
yourself
And the blind will lead until we loose our way
And it turns to rust as it starts to grey
All the begging eyes and all the hopeful stares won’t keep us from
drowning
When it rains the line between us bleeds
And we’re the same
Hell meets heaven on the streets
And we turn into something that we thought we’d never be
When it rains on you and me
The soul will always try to save the heart
And u can’t explain the light to someone sitting in the dark
And when u don’t give up but your head hangs down
You’re not alone
We can paint these walls but all the cracks remain
While we’re making bets on just how long it takes
O, the truth will try to drain the guilt away
But we’ll still be sinking
When it rains the line between us bleeds
And we’re the same
Hell meets heaven on the streets
And we turn into something that we thought we’d never be
When it rains on you and me
If you walk around with closed eyes that’s all you’ll ever see
Don’t hurt me and don’t help me
And don’t put your hands on me
Coz we pretend we’re sorry and we pretend it’s fair
But it crashes down like shattered glass
No cries or prayer will stop me
When it rains the line between us bleeds
And we’re the same
Hell meets heaven on the streets
And we turn into something that we thought we’d never be
When it rains
Ooo…….
