Paul Cox

Award-winning film director Paulus Henriqus Benedictus "Paul" Cox (born 16 April 1940) is widely recognized as 'Australia’s most prolific film auteur'. "Cox’s delicate films have been pockmarked with life’s uncertainty. Loneliness within relationships is a staple of the Cox oeuvre, too". David Wenham states, “There is no one like Cox ... He is unique, and we need him, and people like him...He is completely an auteur, because everything you see on the screen, and hear, has got Paul’s fingerprints all over it."

Career

Cox was born in Venlo, Limburg, the Netherlands, the son of Else (née Kuminack), a native of Germany, and Wim Cox, a documentary film producer. Cox emigrated to Australia in 1965, by which time he had already established a reputation as a photographer.

His teaching at Prahran College of Advanced Education in the 1970s with Athol Shmith and John Cato influenced a number of photographers and filmmakers, including Carol Jerrems and Bill Henson. He has collaborated with a number of screenwriters including John Clarke and Bob Ellis.

Paul Cox (footballer)

Paul Cox (born 6 January 1972) is an English football manager, currently manager of Barrow.

In an eleven year career as a player, Cox played in the Football League with his hometown club Notts County before playing in non-league football with several clubs, most notably Kettering Town.

Cox moved into coaching at Eastwood Town in 2003, becoming the manager in 2005. He won the Northern Premier League in 2008-09, and left the club for Mansfield Town in 2011, with whom he won the Conference Premier in 2012-13, before leaving in November 2014.

Playing career

As a player, Cox was a defender who could play as right-back or as a central defender. He began his career at his hometown club Notts County, making his first-team debut against Manchester City on 25 April 1992, coming on as a substitute for Kevin Bartlett. Cox spent five years at Notts County, playing just over 40 matches, and also had a short loan spell with Hull City.

At the end of the 1994–95 season, Cox was released by Notts County, and he subsequently dropped down into non-league football, where he most notably spent five seasons with Kettering Town, and also had spells at Halifax Town and Hucknall Town.
