Villeneuve, Fribourg
Villeneuve is a municipality in the district of Broye, in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland.
Geography
Villeneuve has an area, as of 2009, of 3.5 square kilometers (1.4 sq mi). Of this area, 2.02 km2 (0.78 sq mi) or 57.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.21 km2 (0.47 sq mi) or 34.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.28 km2 (0.11 sq mi) or 7.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.04 km2 (9.9 acres) or 1.1% is either rivers or lakes and 0.02 km2 (4.9 acres) or 0.6% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.5%. Out of the forested land, 32.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.4% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 47.6% is used for growing crops and 9.3% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
