Pâté is a short film by Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to win several prestigious awards including NYU's Wasserman Award, the Fielle d'Or at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, The Grand Jury Prize at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival, Award for Excellence from New York Magazine and the Special Jury Prize at the Atlanta Film Festival.

Plot summary

Pâté is a dark story about an aristocratic family struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Amongst a landscape of desolation, two young children, Otto and his sister Vera, hunt daily for food. Meanwhile, at home in an abandoned ship, their delusional Mother clings onto the faded glory of their former aristocratic lives, aided by her shiftless Maid.

Full of memories, their life is a shadow of the past as each character copes with the grind of daily survival. When the malevolent Mister Griswald, the only man to survive the apocalypse, drops in for dinner, he sets in motion the final act - revealing the shocking secret of their survival.

Pate (instrument)

A pātē is a Polynesian percussion instrument. It is of the slit drum family, and therefore is also of the idiophone percussion family. It is made from a hollowed-out log, usually of Milo wood and produces a distinctive and loud sound. Different sizes of pate offer different pitches and volumes, as well as striking the pate in the middle or near the ends.

Construction

First a segment of a hardwood tree trunk or thick branch is taken and stripped of its bark. Holes are then bored into the log in a straight line, from one end to the other, optionally leaving some space at each end. What remains in between the holes is then chiseled out, forming the characteristic slit. After this, the log continues to be hollowed out through the slit. Both the shape of the slit and the extent that the log is gutted will affect the tone and pitch of the pate.

Yale Nance Patt is an American professor of electrical and computer engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He holds the Ernest Cockrell, Jr. Centennial Chair in Engineering. In 1965, Patt introduced the WOS module, the first complex logic gate implemented on a single piece of silicon. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery, and in 2014 he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.

Patt received his bachelor's degree at Northeastern University and his master's degree and doctorate at Stanford University, all in electrical engineering.

Patt has spent much of his career pursuing aggressive ILP, out-of-order, and speculative computer architectures. E.g. HPSm, the High Performance Substrate for Microprocessors.

Patt is also the co-author of the textbook, Introduction to Computing Systems: From Bits and Gates to C and Beyond, currently published in its second edition by McGraw-Hill, which is used as the course textbook for his undergraduate Introduction to Computing class at University of Texas at Austin as well as the introduction Computer Engineering course at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Introduction to Computer Systems at University of Pennsylvania and Computer Organization and Programming at Georgia Institute of Technology. It is in this textbook that the LC-3 Assembly Language is introduced. He is currently authoring the third edition.

Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party

The Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party (Italian: Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese, PATT) is a regionalist,autonomist, and Christian democraticpolitical party in Trentino, Italy. The PATT is the unofficial counterpart of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) in Trentino and the two parties contested together several general and European elections.

Franco Panizza is the party's current secretary, while Walter Kaswalder its long-time president. Ugo Rossi, a former leader of the party, has served as the President of Trentino since 2013. Panizza and Rossi represent the party's centrist wing, which strongly supports the alliance with the Democratic Party and the Union for Trentino (coalition partners of the PATT since 2002), while Kaswalder holds a more conservative (and traditional) position, that resonates well with the party's grassroots.

Background

The party was founded on 25 July 1948 as the Trentino Tyrolean People's Party (PPTT).

Between 1972 and 1976, the PPTT was represented in the Italian Senate by Sergio Fontanari.
