Friends is the 14th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on June 24, 1968 through Capitol Records. It was initially met with a mild critical reception and peaked at number 126 on the US Billboard charts for what was then group's worst chart performance to date. In the UK, the album peaked at number 13.
Many of the album's songs were inspired by Transcendental Meditation and the group's recent interactions with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It was the third consecutive album to credit "the Beach Boys" as producer instead of Brian Wilson, and the first to feature significant songwriting contributions from Dennis Wilson. One single was issued from the album: "Friends" (backed with "Little Bird"), reaching number 47 in the US.
On December 15, 1967, the Beach Boys encountered Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at a UNICEF Variety Gala in Paris, France. Enchanted by his teachings, Mike Love, along with other musicians including Donovan and the Beatles, journeyed in February to Rishikesh, India, to study Transcendental Meditation under the Maharishi's guidance for two weeks. In his absence, the remaining Beach Boys – Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Carl Wilson, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston – along with selected members of the Wrecking Crew began recording the album at Brian Wilson's home studio. In mid-March, Love returned from his TM retreat and contributed to the subsequent vocal sessions, with leads on the brief "Meant for You", which opens the album, and "Anna Lee, the Healer," which was inspired by his time in India.
"Passing By" (Hangul: 스쳐간다; RR: Seuchyeoganda) is a digital single by South Korean singer-songwriter Roy Kim, released and distributed on November 27, 2012 through CJ E&M Music. It was the winning song of Mnet's talent competition series Superstar K4.
Four days after winning Superstar K4, Kim's digital single "Passing By" was released. In its first week of release, the song charted in the top 10 of several music portals and charts in South Korea. It peaked at number six on the Gaon Digital Chart, and number nine on the now-defunct Billboard K-Pop Hot 100. As of February 9, 2013, "Passing By" has sold about 643,000 digital copies in Kim's native country.
As "Passing By" was only released for Superstar K4, it was not heavily promoted. Aside from a performance on Superstar K4, Kim also performed the song at Mnet Asian Music Awards on November 30, 2012 followed by Mnet's M! Countdown on December 13.
Zero 7 are a British musical duo consisting of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. They began as studio engineers and in 1997 formed the group Zero 7. Their debut album, Simple Things, was released in 2001. Subsequent albums include When It Falls, The Garden and Yeah Ghost.
After studying sound engineering, Binns and Hardaker began their careers in the music industry in the 1990s at Mickie Most's RAK recording studio in London, engineering music for British groups like the Pet Shop Boys, Young Disciples and Robert Plant. In 1997 they created a remix of the song "Climbing Up the Walls" by Radiohead (which was also the first time the name 'Zero 7' was used) and Binns received a credit for additional sampling on Kid A. The pair also remixed Terry Callier's "Love Theme From Spartacus" and songs by Lenny Kravitz, Sneaker Pimps and Lambchop.
The name Zero 7 was chosen after Binns and Hardaker travelled through Mexico and ended up in Honduras where they spent time on an island called Utila on which was a bar called 'Cero Siete'. When back in the UK they were asked by Radiohead to remix "Climbing Up the Walls" and they called the mix "the Zero 7 Mix" which stuck.
Wait in line
'Till your time
Ticking clock
Everyone stop
Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me
Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me
Woooohh
Do you believe
In what you see
There doesn't seem to be anybody else who agrees with me
Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe in
What you see
Nine to five
Living lies
Everyday
Stealing time
Everyone's taking everything they can
Everything they can
Everyone's taking everything they can
Everything they can
Woooohh
Do you believe
In what you feel
It doesn't seem to be anybody else who agrees with me
Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe
In what you see
Ah and I'll shout and I'll scream
But I'd rather not have seen
And I'll hide away for another day
Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe
In what you see
Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Everyone's taking everything they can
Everything they can
