Windows PowerShell

Windows PowerShell is a task automation and configuration management framework from Microsoft, consisting of a command-line shell and associated scripting language built on the .NET Framework. PowerShell provides full access to COM and WMI, enabling administrators to perform administrative tasks on both local and remote Windows systems as well as WS-Management and CIM enabling management of remote Linux systems and network devices.

In PowerShell, administrative tasks are generally performed by cmdlets (pronounced command-lets), which are specialized .NET classes implementing a particular operation. Sets of cmdlets may be combined into scripts, executables (which are standalone applications), or by instantiating regular .NET classes (or WMI/COM Objects). These work by accessing data in different data stores, like the file system or registry, which are made available to the PowerShell runtime via Windows PowerShell providers.

Windows PowerShell also provides a hosting API with which the Windows PowerShell runtime can be embedded inside other applications. These applications can then use Windows PowerShell functionality to implement certain operations, including those exposed via the graphical interface. This capability has been used by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to expose its management functionality as PowerShell cmdlets and providers and implement the graphical management tools as PowerShell hosts which invoke the necessary cmdlets. Other Microsoft applications including Microsoft SQL Server 2008 also expose their management interface via PowerShell cmdlets. With PowerShell, graphical interface-based management applications on Windows are layered on top of Windows PowerShell. A PowerShell scripting interface for Windows products is mandated by Microsoft's Common Engineering Criteria.

Pash

Pash or Paash (ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਾਸ਼; September 9, 1950 – March 23, 1988) was the pen name of Avtar Singh Sandhu, one of the major poets of the Naxalite movement in the Punjabi literature of the 1970s. He was killed by Khalistani extremists on March 23, 1988. His strongly left-wing views were reflected in his poetry.

Early life and activism

He was born in Talwandi Salem, Jalandhar, Punjab, growing up in the midst of Naxalite; a revolutionary movement waged in Punjab against the landlords, industrialists, traders, etc. who control the means of production. He published his first book of revolutionary poems, Loh-Katha (Iron Tale), in 1970. His militant and provocative tone raised the ire of the establishment and a murder charge was brought against him. He spent nearly two years in jail, before being finally acquitted.

On acquittal, he became involved in Punjab's maoist front, editing a literary magazine, Siarh (The Plow Line). He became a popular political figure on the left during this period, and was awarded a fellowship at the Punjabi Academy of Letters in 1985. He toured the United Kingdom and the United States the following year; while in U.S., he became involved with the Anti-47 Front, opposing Sikh extremist violence.

Pash (Kate Ceberano album)

Pash is an album released by Australian recording artist Kate Ceberano in May 1998.

The lead single, "'Pash'" was released in December 1997, and eventually peaked at #10 in March 1998 and was certified gold. Two further singles were released from the album, 'Love Is Alive' and 'Time To Think', but both failed to reach the ARIA top 50.

Ceberano says in her 2014 autobiography that the album Pash is "naked, unabashed pop" but the most personal album she had ever made. She says, "It had taken me fifteen years to get to the point where I was confident enough to make decisions and to see them through. Before Pash I had been too willing to let others make the decisions for me, even when it was my band and my face on the album cover. I didn't trust my own instincts as an artist. Pash was the artistic breakthrough I needed. I wrote or co-wrote all the tracks".

Ceberano explains that she wrote the song "Courage" with Mark Goldenberg as a wedding present for her mother. She was inspired by her mother's statement, "I can't believe I've found a man who has the courage to love me".
