List of minor recurring characters in Star Trek: Enterprise

This is a list of minor characters from the science fiction television series Star Trek: Enterprise. Characters are ordered alphabetically by family name, and only characters who played a significant recurring role in the series are listed.

Daniels

Daniels is an operative in the cross-history conflict called the Temporal Cold War. Daniels is from the 31st century, c. 3064 AD. He is first seen in "Cold Front" as a member of Archer's crew. Soon after, he was apparently killed during a Suliban incursion aboard Enterprise. His quarters, which contained several time travel-related devices, was locked down and banned to all crew members, except in cases of emergency involving the Temporal Cold War.

Daniels explained little of the nature of his organization, preferring to keep the group's nature, organization and abilities mostly unknown, in order to keep Captain Archer from learning too much about the future. His method of transporting others through time was unusually subtle, lacking any obvious visual effects or disorientation. Typically, Archer would walk through a door on the Enterprise and suddenly find himself in an unfamiliar location and time period; Daniels would then appear to talk to him. Daniels pulled off a similar feat on a much larger scale in the episode "Storm Front": When the Enterprise returned to Earth after the battle with the Xindi, the crew discovered that they had arrived during World War II.

Christopher Daniels

Daniel Christopher Covell (born March 24, 1970) is an American professional wrestler, best known by his ring name Christopher Daniels and as the masked wrestler Curry Man. He is currently signed with Ring of Honor (ROH).

Covell has spent the bulk of his career wrestling for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and ROH, but has also has worked extensively in Japan and on the American independent circuit. He has won seventeen total championships between TNA, ROH, and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), with four reigns as TNA X Division Champion, six reigns as NWA World Tag Team Champion, and two reigns as TNA World Tag Team Champion during his time with TNA, one reign as ROH World Television Champion and three reigns as ROH World Tag Team Champion while wrestling for ROH, and one reign as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion in NJPW.

He is known as "The King of Indies" for his work with independent promotions across the world, including Frontier Wrestling Alliance (FWA), International Wrestling Cartel (IWC), and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG).

Paradise

Paradise (Persian: پردیس, Paradise garden) is the term for a place of timeless harmony. The Abrahamic faiths associate paradise with the Garden of Eden, that is, the perfect state of the world prior to the fall from grace, and the perfect state that will be restored in the World to Come.

Paradisaical notions are cross-cultural, often laden with pastoral imagery, and may be cosmogonical or eschatological or both, often compared to the miseries of human civilization: in paradise there is only peace, prosperity, and happiness. Paradise is a place of contentment, a land of luxury and idleness. Paradise is often described as a "higher place", the holiest place, in contrast to this world, or underworlds such as Hell. In eschatological contexts, paradise is imagined as an abode of the virtuous dead. In Christian and Islamic understanding, Heaven is a paradisaical relief. In old Egyptian beliefs, the otherworld is Aaru, the reed-fields of ideal hunting and fishing grounds where the dead lived after judgment. For the Celts, it was the Fortunate Isle of Mag Mell. For the classical Greeks, the Elysian fields was a paradisaical land of plenty where the heroic and righteous dead hoped to spend eternity. The Vedic Indians held that the physical body was destroyed by fire but recreated and reunited in the Third Heaven in a state of bliss. In the Zoroastrian Avesta, the "Best Existence" and the "House of Song" are places of the righteous dead. On the other hand, in cosmological contexts 'paradise' describes the world before it was tainted by evil.

Paradise (Abdulrazak Gurnah)

Paradise is a historical novel by Abdulrazak Gurnah. The novel was nominated for both the Booker Prize and the Whitbread Prize for Fiction.

Plot

The novel follows the story of Yusuf, a boy born in the fictional town of Kawa in Tanzania at the turn of the Twentieth century. Yusuf's father is a hotelier and is in debt to a rich and powerful Arab merchant named Aziz. Early in the story Yusuf is pawned in exchange for his father's owed debt to Aziz and must work as an unpaid servant for the merchant. Yusuf joins Aziz's caravan as they travel into parts of Central Africa and the Congo Basin that have hitherto not been traded with for many generations. Here, Aziz's caravan of traders meets hostility from local tribes, wild animals and difficult terrain. As the caravan returns to East Africa, World War I begins and Aziz encounters the German Army as they sweep Tanzania, forcibly conscripting African men as soldiers.

Major themes

African literary scholar J U Jacobs writes that Gurnah is writing back to Joseph Conrad's famous 1902 novel Heart Of Darkness. In Aziz's easterly journey to the Congo, Jacobs says that Gurnah is challenging the dominant Western images of the Congo at the turn of the twentieth century that continue to pervade the popular imagination.

Paradise (What About Us?)

"Paradise (What About Us?)" is a studio EP by Dutch symphonic metal/rock band Within Temptation from their sixth studio album Hydra. It was released on 27 September with three songs from the upcoming album in their demo versions and also accompanying a music video. Beside its digital release, the EP has also been released as a physical CD (only in Japan).

Background

At the end of May 2013, the band started the process of finalization of the song vocal lines. Next month, the band went on to record the first music video for the new album. On 12 July 2013, the band released a teaser trailer of the upcoming music video, but without any names revealed. Next month, the band announced the title of the lead single, in which was called "Paradise (What About Us?)", also uploading a teaser trailer revealing some of the song lyrics and a guitar solo in anticipation for the release. During the recording process of the song, the band came to a point of confusion in which they couldn't decide how to mix it, so the song was sent to several different mixers for the band's to choose the better one. They wanted a mix that was "pumping, heavy, big and melancholic" at the same time, and to make sure that nothing was left missing on the song. According to lead vocalist Sharon den Adel, the early idea was to put "a swingy dance beat with rap in all verses" but the band disliked the end result because it led to a place "a bit too much out of our comfort zone", and then they led it to a well-known territory, transforming the song into a "big symphonic, and heavy guitar cranking song."
