Panorama

A panorama (formed from Greek πᾶν "all" + ὅραμα "sight"), is any wide-angle view or representation of a physical space, whether in painting, drawing, photography, film, seismic images or a three-dimensional model. The word was originally coined in the 18th century by the English (Irish descent) painter Robert Barker to describe his panoramic paintings of Edinburgh and London. The motion-picture term panning is derived from panorama.

A panoramic view is also proposed for multi-media, cross-scale applications to outline overview (from a distance) along and across repositories. This so-called "cognitive panorama" is a panoramic view over, and a combination of, cognitive spaces used to capture the larger scale.

Paintings

In the mid-19th century, panoramic paintings and models became a very popular way to represent landscapes and historical events. Audiences of Europe in this period were thrilled by the aspect of illusion, immersed in a winding 360 degree panorama and given the impression of standing in a new environment. The panorama was a 360-degree visual medium patented by the artist Robert Barker in 1787. He created a picture spectacle, shown on a cylindrical surface and viewed from the inside, giving viewers a vantage point encompassing the entire circle of the horizon, rendering the original scene with high fidelity. The inaugural exhibition, a "View of Edinburgh", was first shown in that city in 1788, then transported to London in 1789. By 1793, Barker had built "The Panorama" rotunda at the center of London's entertainment district in Leicester Square, where it remained until closed in 1863.

Panorama (music competition)

Panorama is an annual music competition of steelbands from Trinidad and Tobago. It is usually held around Carnival time.

History

The first Trinidad Panorama was first held during Carnival celebrations in 1963. A popular Calypso is arranged into a piece for steelpan orchestra with introductions and variations over the theme. "Panorama" steelband competitions are also staged at Carnival time in other Caribbean communities. The first Antiguan Panorama was held in 1949 and was won by Hell's Gate Orchestra.In 1979, Panorama was not held due to Rudolph Charles' fight for higher recognition of pannists.

As part of the International Conference on Pan (ICP) in August 2015, Trinidad will host the International Panorama Competition. The Panorama will be held over a two-day period, 8-9 August 2015. The competition will bring together participants from the approximately thirty-eight (38) steelband-playing countries from around the world to compete against each other for the title of ICP Champions 2015

Panorama (Montross, Virginia)

Panorama is a historic estate in Montross, Virginia. The 2.5 story brick Colonial Revival house, located on an estate of over 130 acres (53 ha), was built in 1932 to a design by Joseph Evans Sperry for local politician and attorney Charles E. Stuart, and has been virtually unaltered since its construction. The building is sited between the two branches of Chandler's Mill Pond, and has two main facades, one facing the long drive from the road, and the other facing south toward the lake. The house is prominently visible from the Kings Highway (Virginia Route 3), which crosses the Chandler's Mill Pond Dam.

Panorama is strikingly similar to historic Bushfield, home of John Augustine Washington, brother of George Washington. The exterior design mimics the Colonial Revival renovations at Bushfield, which features the same dual facades, one a 3-bay entrance with projecting central block and the other a mounmental 2-story portico. The interior staircase in Panorama is a mirror image of Bushfield Manor's.

Power Rangers S.P.D.

Power Rangers S.P.D. is an American television series and the thirteenth season of the Power Rangers franchise, based on the Super Sentai series, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. It debuted on February 5, 2005, on ABC Family. New episodes continued to debut on ABC Family until the episode "Messenger, Part 1". Starting with "Messenger, Part 2" episodes began to debut on Toon Disney. It is also the title for the Korean dub of Dekaranger in South Korea, whose logo is similar to the American series. S.P.D. stands for "Space Patrol Delta"; in Dekaranger, it stood for Special Police Dekaranger, and in the South Korean dub of Dekaranger, it stood for Special Police Delta. A Japanese dub of S.P.D. started airing on Toei's digital television channel in Japan starting in August 2011, with two DVD volumes released on August 5. It features the original Japanese Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger cast members dubbing over the voices of their American counterparts.

Synopsis

The story takes place in the year 2025, after Earth has welcomed alien beings to live peacefully with the human race. However, peace is short lived as the planet-conquering Troobian Empire turns its destructive attention to Earth. When the Earth's first line of defense, the S.P.D. A-Squad, vanishes without a trace, the protection of the planet falls to their replacements: the B-Squad Rangers, and their dog-like alien commander, Anubis "Doggie" Cruger.

RIC3

RIC-3 also known as resistance to inhibitors of cholinesterase 3 is a chaperone protein that in humans is encoded by the RIC3 gene. The RIC3 gene was first discovered in C. elegans. RIC-3 protein is conserved in most animals and influences the maturation of various ligand gated ion channels including the serotonin 5-HT₃ receptor and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, particularly the homomeric α₇ nicotinic receptor. RIC-3 enhances currents generated by these receptors by expediting receptor transport to the cell surface and by increasing receptor number.
