In the Mahabharata epic, Pandu (Sanskrit: पाण्डु Pāṇḍu, lit. yellowish, whitish, pale or jaundiced), was the king of Hastinapur, was the son of Ambalika and Rishi Veda Vyasa. He is more popularly known as the earthly father of the Pandavas. He was said to be a great warrior and expanded his kingdom during his rule.
Vichitravirya, king of Kuru kingdom dies childless at young age, leaving kingdom heirless. His mother Satyavati sent for her son from different father, Rishi Veda Vyasa. She asks him to beget child with Vichitravirya's first wife Ambika, according to Devar Dharma. But Ambika closes her eyes when she visits Vyasa, resulting in a blind child, Dhritarashtra. Satyavati again asks him to visit Ambalika, as blind person can't protect the kingdom. Ambalika was instructed by Satyavati to keep her eyes open lest she would bear a blind son like Ambika's. She did keep her eyes open but she became pale after seeing the formidable form of the Sage. Therefore, Pandu was born pale.
Pandu (Assamese: পাণ্ডু ) is a Locality in Guwahati with nearest airport at Guwahati Airport and railway station at Paltan Bazaar. It is named after Pandunath Temple located in Tilla hills part of locality. It is situated north of Maligaon locality and have Brahmaputra river to north. Due to its location on shores of Brahmaputra river, it is major hub of river transport facilities with a port managed by port authority of India.

The Six Dravidians were six Tamil Chiefs apparently from the Pandyan Dynasty who ruled the Anuradhapura Kingdom from 436 to 452.
Before the Six Dravidians had invaded the island, the Anuradhapura Kingdom was ruled by Mittasena (435-436).
Pandu was the first of the Six Dravidians. He was a Pandyan, in South India, who established foreign rule in Anuradhapura through a Pandyan invasion. He ruled from 436 to 441
Parindu was the second of the Six Dravidians, he ruled from 441 to 441. Parindu was son of Pandu.
Khudda Parinda the third of the Six Dravidians reigned from 441 to 447. He was the younger brother of Parindu.
Tiritara was the fourth of the Six Dravidians who ruled from 447 to 447. He was defeated and killed by Dhatusena within 2 months.
Dathiya was the fifth of the Six Dravidians, who ruled for two years from 447 to 450. He was defeated and killed by Dhatusena after a war lasting 3 years.
Pithiya was the last of the Six Dravidians, who ruled for two years from 450 to 452. He was defeated and killed by Dhatusena.
