Palo Verde High School

Palo Verde High School is a high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The school was built in 1996 with an adjacent 10 portable classrooms located in Summerlin, a rapidly growing affluent suburban community in the western portion of the City of Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County. The origin of the school's name comes from the surrounding Palo Verde trees. The school's ethnic ratio is 59.4% Caucasian; 11.4% African American; 17.1% Hispanic; 11.5% Asian/Pacific Islander and 0.6% Native American.

The school site includes a College of Southern Nevada (CSN) High Tech Center and an adjacent Parks and Recreation facility, providing the opportunity to develop unique technology and curricular programs.

Fine arts

Palo Verde's Theater caught on fire in 2008, almost destroying it. It has since been rebuilt.

Athletics

The Palo Verde Panthers compete in the Sunset 4A Region of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA). The Varsity Football Team had not lost a regular season game since October 2006 until losing to the Legacy Longhorns during the 2009 season. They lost the 2008 Nevada State Championship Game on December 6, 2008 to McQueen High School with a final score of 13-12.

Palo Verde High School is located at 1302 South Avenida Vega in Terra Del Sol, Tucson, Arizona. The school has been open since 1963. Its current principal is Mr. Eric Brock. The origin of the school's name comes from the surrounding Palo Verde trees, native to Tucson. Its mascot is the Titan and the school colors are royal blue and gold. Palo Verde is also a magnet school specializing in engineering and technology. There are currently 1,250 students attending Palo Verde from grades 9–12.

Rushes is a 1998 ambient techno album by The Fireman, a duo consisting of Paul McCartney and producer Youth.

Recording

One line of lyrics included in the song "Palo Verde" was taken from an unreleased track of McCartney's, titled "Let Me Love You Always". Similarly, bits from another unreleased song, "Hey Now (What Are You Looking at Me For?)", was used in "Bison", "Auraveda" and "7 a.m.". Both unreleased tracks were recorded at some point during 1995, at McCartney's The Mill studio. In an edition of Club Sandwich magazine, two more songs were mentioned: "Plum Jam" and "Through the Marshes". All of the tracks featured on the album were recorded early 1998.

Release and reception

Better received than predecessor Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest, Rushes is distinguished by not relying so much on McCartney's previous recordings.

Rushes was released in the UK on Hydra on 21 September 1998, while in the US it was released on Capitol on 20 October 1998. The album was also released on double vinyl. Two 12" singles were released from the album, both mixes of "Fluid". The first 12", released on the same day as and with the same name as the album, contains the tracks "Fluid", "Appletree Cinnabar Amber", and an extended version of an album track titled "Bison (Long One)". The second 12" was released in 1999, as a limited edition of 3000, titled Fluid (Nitin Sawhney Remixes), and features three remixes of "Fluid" ("Fluid (Out of Body and Mind Mix)", "Fluid (Out of Body Mix)" and "Fluid (Out of Body with Sitar Mix)") and the album version of "Bison". Like the duo's first album,Rushes was a no-show on the charts and is also no longer in print.

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station

The Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station is a nuclear power plant located near Tonopah, Arizona, in western Arizona, It is located about 45 miles (80 km) due west of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, and it is located near the Gila River, which is dry except during the rainy season of the late summer.

The Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant is the largest power plant in the United States by net generation. Its average electric power production is about 3.3 gigawatts (GW), and this power serves about four million people. The Arizona Public Service Company (APS) owns 29.1 percent of the station and it also operates this power plant. Its other major owners include the Salt River Project (17.5%), the El Paso Electric Company (15.8%), Southern California Edison (15.8%), PNM Resources (10.2%), the Southern California Public Power Authority (5.9%), and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (5.7%).

The Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant is located in the Arizona desert, and is the only large nuclear power plant in the world that is not located near a large body of water. The power plant evaporates the water from the treated sewage from several nearby cities and towns to provide the cooling of the steam that it produces.
