Pal (album)

Pal was the debut solo album of KK. The album was arranged, composed and produced by Lesle Lewis of Colonial Cousins. The lyrics have been written by Mehboob. All the tracks have been sung by KK.

In 2008, he released his second album Humsafar.

Overview

The lyrics are by Mehboob, while the music is by Lesle Lewis. After its release in 1999, it was an instant hit, and brought a lot of recognition to KK.

With no formal training to count, KK got himself to release a music album Pal with support from his friend, Lesle Lewis in Mumbai. The songs - "Aap Ki Dua", "Yaaron" and the title-track "Pal" in no time ruled the lips of the youngsters and KK's quick march to celebrity-hood commenced.

Album

Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century, first as books of individual 78rpm records, then from 1948 as vinyl LP records played at 33 ¹⁄₃ rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though in the 21st century albums sales have mostly focused on compact disc (CD) and MP3 formats. The audio cassette was a format used in the late 1970s through to the 1990s alongside vinyl.

An album may be recorded in a recording studio (fixed or mobile), in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. Recording may take a few hours to several years to complete, usually in several takes with different parts recorded separately, and then brought or "mixed" together. Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing are termed "live", even when done in a studio. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, so as to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", allow for reverberation, which creates a "live" sound. The majority of studio recordings contain an abundance of editing, sound effects, voice adjustments, etc. With modern recording technology, musicians can be recorded in separate rooms or at separate times while listening to the other parts using headphones; with each part recorded as a separate track.

5-Chloro-αMT

5-Chloro-α-methyltryptamine (5-Chloro-αMT), also known as PAL-542, is a tryptamine derivative related to α-methyltryptamine (αMT) and one of only a few known specific serotonin-dopamine releasing agents (SDRAs). It has been investigated in animals as a potential treatment for cocaine dependence. The EC₅₀ values of 5-chloro-αMT in evoking the in vitro release of serotonin (5-HT), dopamine (DA), and norepinephrine (NE) in rat synaptosomes were reported as 16 nM, 54 nM, and 3434 nM, with an NE/DA ratio of 63.6 and a DA/5-HT ratio of 3.38, indicating that it is a highly specific and well-balanced SDRA. However, 5-chloro-αMT has also been found to act as a potent full agonist of the 5-HT_2A receptor, with an EC₅₀ value of 6.27 nM and an efficacy of 105%, and almost assuredly acts as a potent agonist of other serotonin receptors as well.

5-Chloro-αMT was found to not reliably produce intracranial self-administration in rats or substitute for cocaine in rats or monkeys. It was found through study of 5-chloro-αMT in rhesus monkeys that norepinephrine release has minimal influence on the abuse potential of monoamine releasing agents and that loss of norepinephrine release activity does not affect efficacy in reducing cocaine self-administration in SDRAs relative to serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine releasing agents (SNDRAs) such as naphthylisopropylamine (PAL-287). However, SDRAs like PAL-542 would, in theory, be expected to produce fewer side effects (including sympathomimetic/cardiovascular effects, insomnia, hyperthermia, and anxiety) relative to SNDRAs, and thus would likely be comparatively more favorable in the treatment of cocaine dependence and other conditions.

3-Fluorophenmetrazine

3-Fluorophenmetrazine (also known as 3-FPM and PAL-593) is a phenylmorpholine-based stimulant that is closely related to phenmetrazine and has been sold online as a designer drug. It acts as a dopamine-norepinephrine releasing agent with EC₅₀ values of 43 nM and 30 nM, respectively. It shows only negligible efficacy as a releaser of serotonin, with an EC₅₀ value of 2558 nM.

Legality

Sweden's public health agency suggested to classify 3-Fluorophenmetrazine as illegal narcotic on June 1, 2015. It was finally classified on October 15, 2015.

3-Fluorophenmetrazine is illegal in Switzerland as of December 2015.
