Pain of Mind

Pain of Mind is the debut studio album from the Oakland based band Neurosis. The album documents their early stages as a hardcore punk band in the vein of Discharge, Black Flag, Amebix, and Die Kreuzen. The 2000 reissue contains a special bonus disc that includes live tracks, live radio tracks, and demo tracks.

It was originally released on Alchemy Records in 1987 and later reissued by Alternative Tentacles in 1994 and by Neurot Recordings in 2000.

Notably featured on the front cover of the 1994 vinyl release is Pennsylvanian politician Robert "Budd" Dwyer, moments before he committed suicide during a televised press conference in 1987.

    Pain Of Mind

    by: Neurosis

    Your mind is restricted
    From years of obedience
    Thoughts are never your own
Yourmind is a trap loaded with
    Crap
Who decided your life? Not you
Never had it in you to look inside
    And be you
Living life in a safety belt
    Nothing inside anymore
    Never crossed the line
    Just content to whine
    Always pay the fine
    Mind by their design
It's time to purge your brain
    No question at all
    They've constructed the wall
    But you had the bricks
    (Ever increasing pressure fix)
(Pain of mind, sickness of heart)
