Pai River

The Pai River (Thai: แม่น้ำปาย, rtgs: Maenam Pai, Thai pronunciation: [mɛ̂ːnáːm paːj]) originates in the mountains of the Daen Lao Range, Pai District, Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. The river flows first in a north-south direction and then in an east-west direction down to Mueang Mae Hong Son District and across the Thai/Burmese border. The river tributes the Salween River in Kayah State, Burma. It is 180 kilometres (110 mi) long.

Pai River is popular for whitewater rafting. Rapids on the river vary from class I to class V on the International Scale of River Difficulty and everything in between. The Pai River offers a scenic view of mountain forest and many choose to camp along the quiet river banks.

3×3 Eyes

3×3 Eyes, pronounced Sazan Eyes (Japanese: サザンアイズ, Hepburn: Sazan Aizu) in Japanese, is a manga written and illustrated by Yuzo Takada. The manga was serialized in Young Magazine from 1987 to 2002, spanning to a total of 40 volumes. In 1993, it won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen. The English-language translation was being published by Dark Horse Comics, but was discontinued before the release of volume 9 in 2005.

The manga has received two Original Video Animation series based on 3×3 Eyes and were first released in 1991 and 1995. The first consisted of four episodes averaging to half-hour of run time. The second consisted of three averaging out to 45-minutes of run time. They cover the storyline up to volume 5 of the manga. Originally published by Streamline in the US in 1995, the two OVAs were eventually re-dubbed and released in 2001 by Geneon USA in a collected set. The series has also received several companion books, Drama CDs, and video games only released in Japan.

Plot

Bai (surname)

Bai is the pinyin romanization of the common Chinese surname 白, meaning the color white. With its variants, Bai was ranked 79th within the list of common Chinese surnames in 2006, down from 70th in 1990.

Another surname, 柏, is written with a character normally also pronounced as "Bai", but as a surname is properly pronounced "Bo", according to the ancient reading of the character.

River (TV series)

River is a six-part British television drama series, created and written by Abi Morgan and starring Stellan Skarsgård and Nicola Walker. It premiered on BBC One on 13 October 2015, and internationally on Netflix on 18 November 2015.

Production

The series was commissioned by Charlotte Moore and Ben Stephenson. The executive producers are Jane Featherstone, Manda Levin, Abi Morgan and Lucy Richer. Filming began in London in October 2014. The series was made by Kudos and will be distributed globally by Shine International. Vicki Power of The Daily Express reported Skarsgård saying of his role as DI River, "There’s not much research you can do because his condition doesn’t really exist as we know it. […] It’s a combination of problems, because he’s not like people who hear voices – they’re usually schizophrenic and lack empathy and he does not. But it doesn’t make it less truthful. What attracted me to the script is that it didn’t look like any other script I’ve ever read." Power added, "The series is the brainchild of Emmy-winner Abi Morgan, who wrote The Hour and The Iron Lady. Abi freely admits she nicked the idea from the late Anthony Minghella, who directed the 1990 fantasy film Truly, Madly, Deeply, in which a grieving woman’s (Juliet Stevenson) dead boyfriend appears to come back to life".
