Pabbo is situated on the main highway (A-104) between Gulu and the border with Southern Sudan at Nimule. That road is also known as the Gulu-Nimule Road. Pabbo is located approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi), by road, north of Gulu, the largest city in the sub-region.[1] The coordinates of the town are:03 00 00N, 32 08 42E (Latitude:3.0000; Longitude:32.1450).

During the LRA War (1986 - 2006), Pabbo was the location of one of the largest camps for the Internally Displaced People (IDPs), swelling to over 65,000 at its peak. Since the cessation of hostilities in 2006, some of those IDPs have returned to their villages. [2]
