2016 Pakistan Super League

The 2016 Pakistan Super League or HBL PSL 2016 is the debut season of the Pakistan Super League, established by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The season commenced in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and the final match will also be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on 23rd Feb 2016. The opening ceremony of the tournament was held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai at 4th Feb 2016 before the opening match of the tournament.

The official logo was launched on 20th Sep 2015 in Lahore where the official song of PSL – Ab Khel Ke Dikha (Now Show Us Your Play) was also performed live by singer Ali Zafar.

Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the tournament was held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on 4th Feb 2016. All the five teams, led by their captains along with the team owners marched the ground. The trophy of the Pakistan Super league was unveiled at the ceremony. It featured live performances by singers Ali Zafar, Jamaican rapper and singer Sean Paul, Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and such other artists.The Ceremony ended with pompous display of fireworks. A large crowd attended the ceremony at the stadium.

PSL (rifle)

The PSL (Romanian: Puşcă Semiautomată cu Lunetă model 1974, "scoped semi-automatic rifle") is a Romanian military designated marksman rifle. It is also called PSL-54C, Romak III, FPK and SSG-97 (Scharfschützengewehr - 1997). Though similar in appearance to the SVD Dragunov, the PSL rifle is actually based on the RPK light machine gun.

Overview

The project to develop the PSL commenced after the Soviet Union ceased sharing technical information and exporting military equipment (including the SVD Dragunov) to Romania, as a consequence of the latter's refusal to join the Invasion of Czechoslovakia.

PSL rifles were originally made at the Regia Autonomă pentru Producţia de Tehnică Militară - RATMIL Cugir arsenal in Cugir, Romania. After a consolidation of military arsenals when Romania joined NATO, production of the PSL is now at the SC Fabrica de Arme Cugir SA (ARMS arsenal) in Cugir, Romania which is completely retooled with all brand new state-of-the-art equipment.

The PSL rifle's primary purpose is to be used by a platoon level designated marksman to engage targets at ranges beyond the capabilities of the standard issue AKM carbines. It is built around a stamped steel receiver similar to that of the RPK light machine gun; having a wider forward section enabling a strengthened, more substantial front trunnion. The PSL's operation is the same long stroke piston action of the Kalashnikov family of weapons. Its appearance is similar to the Dragunov sniper rifle yet not one single part interchanges between the rifles.

Pakistan Super League

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) (Urdu: پاکستان سپر لیگ‎) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Pakistan composed of 5 member clubs. Headquartered in Lahore, the PSL is on course to become the premier professional cricket league in Pakistan. The first season of league will run through the month of February, with each team playing 8 games; the top 4 teams with the best record will qualify for the post season (or playoffs), culminating in the championship game, the PSL Cup. Instead of operating as an association of independently owned teams, the PSL is a single entity in which each team (or franchise) is owned and controlled by the league's investors; the investor-operators control their teams as owners. The early commercial rights of franchises were sold for Rs 985 Crores ($93 million) for a span of 10 years in December 2015. The inaugural season of the tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates from 4 February 2016 to 23 February 2016.

PSL Research University (L’université de recherche Paris Sciences et Lettres) is an Association of universities and higher education institutions (ComUE) formed from 18 institutions of higher education and research in the Paris area, and three national research organizations. It was originally formed in April 2010 as a pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur (PRES) by five prominent French institutions : the École Normale Supérieure, the Collège de France, the Paris Observatory, Chimie ParisTech and ESPCI ParisTech. PSL has known a significant growth in its membership, as new institutions adhered to it in the framework of scientific and academic cooperations : Curie Institute (Paris), MINES ParisTech, Paris-Dauphine University, CNSAD, Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, La Fémis, Fondation Pierre-Gilles de Gennes pour la recherche, IBPC - Fondation Edmond de Rothschild, Institut Louis Bachelier, Lycée Henri-IV, Centre national de la recherche scientifique, French Institute of Health and Medical Research, French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation, Association Art et Recherche. One of the eight French "Excellence Initiative" - large scale research and higher education projects chosen by an international of experts -, PSL received government approval in July 2010 and gained a legal status as an endowment. In the long run it aims at becoming a world-class leader in education and research, building upon its excellent potential.
