Thief (arcade game)

Thief is a 1981 arcade video game that is extremely similar to Pac-Man.

The player operates a car being pursued by several blue police cars, in a maze that is supposed to represent city streets. There are eight mazes in all, which change every level in a set order, then repeat starting with the ninth screen. The ninth through sixteenth levels are identical to the first through eighth, except the cars all move faster and the dollar signs (see next paragraph) don't last as long. After that, the game loops back to Level 9, even identifying it as such (i.e., the seventeenth stage says "Level 9 completed!" when cleared). Mazes can have up to three side tunnels that the cars can use to go from one side of the screen to the other, but a few have no tunnels at all.

Gameplay

Each maze is littered with dollar bills which the player collects by running over them. There are also several (usually four, but the first maze configuration has five) golden dollar signs placed throughout the mazes (the equivalent of Pac-Man's energizers); hitting one of these causes the police cars to temporarily turn red. While the police cars are red the player can crash into them and score extra points (100 for the first, 500 for the second, 1000 for the third, and 2000 for the fourth); if contact with the police cars occurs at any other time the player loses a life. When all the dollar bills on one screen have been collected, the player advances to the next level.

Thief (Our Lady Peace song)

"Thief" is a song written and performed by Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace and released in 1999 on the album Happiness... Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch.

Song meaning

The band revealed that the song was written about a young girl from Kitchener with a cancerous tumor in her brain named Mina Kim. The "thief" mentioned in the song refers to the tumor. The short clip at the end of the song consisting of a young girl singing a Sunday school song is a real audio clip of Mina Kim singing "Little By Little" with Maida's wife Chantal Kreviazuk and band member Jeremy Taggart.

Music video

The Micha Dahan-directed music video of Thief was filmed on May 2, 2000 on a rooftop in downtown Toronto and premiered on Muchmusic on May 23. It was shot entirely under a rainy setting on an otherwise sunny day, to impose the mood given by the song. Band members do not play instruments and are shown in slow motion film stock in the rain.

Thief (soundtrack)

Thief (1981) is a soundtrack album by the German band Tangerine Dream for the film Thief, directed by Michael Mann. It reached No. 43 on the UK Albums Chart in a 3-week run.

"Beach Theme" and "Beach Scene" are two different mixes of the same piece. The album version of "Dr. Destructo" is quite different from the film version. An extended version of "Dr. Destructo" was available only on a promo single. "Igneous" is a remix of "Thru Metamorphic Rocks" from the 1979 album Force Majeure. Neither "Beach Theme" nor "Trap Feeling" appear in the film.

After Tangerine Dream completed the soundtrack, Mann needed another sequence. As Tangerine Dream was on tour, Craig Safan composed and performed "Confrontation". The original 1981 Elektra LP released in the U.S. featured "Confrontation", but subsequent releases featured "Beach Scene" instead.

During the 1980s, Toronto television station CITY-TV used "Scrap Yard" as their background music when inserting technical difficulties slide cards.

Oxygen (Marie Serneholt song)

"Oxygen" is the third single by the Swedish pop music singer Marie Serneholt, released from her first album Enjoy the Ride in 2006.

After so much speculation about Marie's third single, promotional copies of the song were sent to Swedish radios in the second week of October. The video was premiered on 26 October on Swedish Music Channels. The song had already been released for digital download on 9 October. No physical release was made for this single. The song peaked at number seventy-six, failing to chart inside the Top 60.

The video was filmed in Stockholm, Sweden, on 22 September and it was premiered on 26 October.

Oxygen (Baptiste Giabiconi album)

Oxygen is the debut album from French male model and singer Baptiste Giabiconi. It was released on 24 September 2012 on the My Major Company fan-supported record label. The album is in English except for the track "Speed of Light (L'amour et les étoiles)", which is bilingual with some additional French lyrics. It was produced by Pete Boxta Martin and recorded in London. It went straight into #1 on the SNEP official French Albums Chart dated 30 September 2012.

Oxygen (Hadouken! song)

"Oxygen" is a song by British new rave band Hadouken!. It was released as the second single from their third studio album Every Weekend on 7 November 2010. The EP was released later on 18 January 2011.

Background

"Oxygen" is the second of two songs (the other being "Mecha Love") that the band had confirmed to be released as singles in 2010, before the rest of their third album is recorded in January 2011.

The song was mistakenly released on Beatport on the same date as "Mecha Love", several weeks before the announced release date. To compensate for this, the official release date was pushed back into December and the release was extended into an EP.

Music video

The music video was first published through Hadouken!'s YouTube channel on 8 January 2011. It features scenes of a woman in a bath tub attached to wires while the band is performing the song. An alternate video for the song was also released on 27 January.
