Ooh La La (Faces song)

"Ooh La La" is a 1973 song by the band Faces, written by Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood. It was the title song for the band's last studio album, Ooh La La.

The lead vocals were provided by Wood, a rarity in the band's catalog, as most lead vocals were by Rod Stewart or less often by Ronnie Lane. Stewart and Lane recorded lead vocals for it, however their producer suggested Wood give it a try, and that was the version that was used for the track which appeared on the record.

Lane recorded his own version after leaving the Faces in 1973 with his new group, Slim Chance. Lane's version featuring slightly altered lyrics to what he wrote for the Faces. Although Lane's version was never released during his lifetime, it appeared as the title track of the 2014 Slim Chance compilation Ooh La La: An Island Harvest. Lane performed his version of the song right up until he retired from the music business in 1992.

Wood has performed the song in his solo concerts between 1987-2012.

Ooh La La (Coolio song)

"Ooh La La" is a song by American hip hop artist Coolio. It was the second single from Coolio's third solo album My Soul. The song was released in september 1997. The song did not chart in the Billboard Hot 100; however, it was a top 40 hit in other countries. Its best chart performance was in New Zealand, where it peaked at number 2. The song contains a sample of "Pull Up to the Bumper" by Grace Jones.

Music video

The music video beings with Coolio eating breakfast while "Hit Em'" from My Soul plays. The mailman throws a newspaper through Coolio's window, hitting him in the side of the head. Coolio opens the newspaper and reads "Today you will find the Love of your Life, BUT BEWARE, she will NOT REVEAL herself to you. You MUST FIND HER". Coolio then goes about his day doing laundry, grocery shopping, and using an elevator, all while attempting to find the love of his life. After no success, he resorts to spiking a girl's drink with a love potion, serving it to her at a restaurant while posing as a waiter. After a mix up, an elderly woman drinks the love potion, much to Coolio's dismay. Coolio promptly runs away. Later that day Coolio is sitting in his car when a limo pulls up. The window opens and it appears to be the girl from the elevator. She hands something to Coolio before driving away. After the limo pulls out of the frame, the elderly woman is behind it, waving to Coolio. Coolio notices and quickly starts his car to drive away.

Oooh La La! (Crash Test Dummies album)

Oooh La La! is the eighth album by the Crash Test Dummies, released 11 May 2010 on Deep Fried Records, distributed by MRI Records. The songs on the album are inspired by the Optigan and Omnichord toy instruments.

Background

The seeds for Oooh La La! were first planted when Brad Roberts and producer Stewart Lerman (Antony & the Johnsons, The Roches) became infatuated with vintage analog musical toys, particularly one manufactured by the Mattel company called the Optigan (an acronym for "optical organ"). Using celluloid discs, the Optigan projects the sounds of other instruments with different sets of keys triggering chords and individual notes. The discs, with names like "Nashville," "Swing It!" and "Guitar Boogie," rotate to produce different arrays of sounds. The process is eerily similar to the digital sampling that is so common today, but the antiquated analog system produces quite a different effect. "Because we wrote using these discs, we were inspired to do things that we wouldn't have done," Roberts points out. "I don't write big band style, but all of a sudden I had this big band [on disc], so I'm writing in a genre that I normally wouldn't be writing in. I can't say enough about how great it is to write on these toys."

Çük (Çuq; IPA: [ɕyk] or [ɕuq]; Cyrillic: Чук, Чүк, Чӳк, Чӱк) was a holiday of Keräşen Tatars, Chuvashes, Udmurts, preserved before the beginning of 20th century. CK (album)

CK is the seventh studio album by American R&B/funk singer Chaka Khan, released on the Warner Bros. Records label in 1988.

CK was Khan's first album not to be recorded with Arif Mardin, instead it had with the exception of two tracks Russ Titelman at the helm as producer, with whom she had collaborated on hits like "Ain't Nobody" (1983), "Eye to Eye" from 1984's platinum-selling I Feel for You as well as "Tight Fit" from her previous album Destiny. Musically CK combined a variety of genres such as soul, R&B, funk, pop as well as two jazz titles and altogether the set was more laid-back, less hip-hop influenced and production-wise not as complex and synth-driven as I Feel for You and Destiny.

Three singles were released from C.K.: Womack & Womack's Latino-flavoured "It's My Party" which reached #5 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart, "Soul Talkin'" and "Baby Me" which became another Top 10 hit on the R&B chart, peaking at #8. The CK album itself also charted higher than the preceding Destiny, reaching #17 on the R&B Albums chart.
