Only You (Pearl and Rusty)

"Only You" is the love duet from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express. It is performed by the protagonist, Rusty, a young steam locomotive and his true love, the observation car, Pearl.

Overview

"Only You" is in fact the second version of the show-stopping love song at the 11th hour in Starlight Express. In the Original London production, Pearl sang a solo "Only He", a passionate power ballad originally performed by Stephanie Lawrence. At the end of this solo Rusty came to find Pearl, and together they sang a very short reprise of the song, "Only You". "Only He" proved to be a highly demanding song, coming shortly after the performers have raced at up to 30mph on roller skates, and it was found this song in this context was too demanding for most performers to sing.

"Only You" is essentially Pearl's solo "Only He", as opposed to the reprise version in the original, re-arranged as a duet between Pearl and Rusty, with the most demanding octave leap passages removed. It replaced "Only He" in London in 1987. This simplified duet version was used in all productions from Broadway until the 1992 London re-vamp. This version is in nature sweet and reflective, less of a show-stopper but more in keeping with the character's journeys.

Only You (非你不可) is a Chinese series; The storyline surrounds an inevitable love triangle that unraveled during a Beijing summer. It stars Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin and Mainland actor Chen Kun.

David Choi (born March 22, 1986 in Anaheim, California, US) is an American musician and YouTube video producer based in Los Angeles. Choi's original songs and pop covers have been heard on NBC, FOX, VH1, MTV, A&E, E!, Travel Channel, Style Network, PBS, Food Network, Disney, as well as in commercials internationally. Critical reception

Awarding the EP four stars from CCM Magazine, Matt Conner writes, "there wasn't a need to tinker with the band's infectious pop sound." Sarah Fine, giving the EP four and a half stars for New Release Today, states, "Only You offers what are arguably some of the most diverse yet unifying songs to come out of the genre so far this year." Rating the EP three and a half stars at Jesus Freak Hideout, David Pickerall says, "Only You is excellent as far as the songs' themes are concerned." Christopher Smith, awarding the EP three and a half stars by Jesus Freak Hideout, describes, "Only You remains a fun summer album and an exciting direction for ShineBright." Rating the EP four stars at Worship Leader, says, "Fun, reflective and honest, Only You is an impressive and creative sophomore release from SHINEBRIGHT."

Giving the EP four stars from 365 Days of Inspiring Media, opines, "Well done to Emily and Nathan, for an enjoyable album and one to listen to again and again for months to come." Abby Baracskai, rating the EP 3.0 out of five for Christian Music Review, writes, "The sounds featured on this EP are certainly diverse and things I never really expected from SHINEBRIGHT." Only You (1992 film)

Only You is a 1992 film starring Andrew McCarthy, Kelly Preston, and Helen Hunt. The film was directed by Betty Thomas, in her film directing debut.

Plot

Clifford Godfrey is a doll's house designer who is dumped by his fiancée a mere few hours before they are to depart for a vacation in Mexico. Clare Enfield, a travel agent, informs Cliff that his tickets are non-refundable. Upset, Cliff goes to a bar where he meets Amanda Hughes, a drunk party girl recently dumped by her rich boyfriend Max after he reunited with his estranged wife, agrees to travel along with Cliff to Mexico.

When Amanda sobers the following morning, she has no recollection of sleeping with or traveling with Cliff to Mexico. Despite her initial reservations, he convinces Amanda to stay with him for the duration of the getaway. During their vacation, she continually flirts with and then rejects Cliff, manipulating him and having him take her on a shopping spree at the resort as well as an expensive dinner, where she pays little attention to Cliff and flirts with other men.
