Proof of Life, is the second studio album by American rock singer Scott Stapp released on November 5, 2013. It's Stapp's first new material since the release of his 2012 uncensored memoir, Sinner's Creed, which Stapp shared his life story for the first time. "This is the most meaningful record of my career," says Stapp. "I've made a lot of messes in my life but I've learned I can take a mess and turn it into a message. This album chronicles my struggles, my journey and it's the most honest record I have ever written". The album was produced by Howard Benson and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge
Proof of Life has received mixed feedback from music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic describes the album as "something of a travelogue of a dark night of the soul," and writes that Stapp is "at home when he's allowed to bellow alongside massive walls of guitars." Jack Arlin of SPIN said of the album, "it's oddly diverse. Stapp's reputation as a neo-grunge belter may be changing."
Ciara is the eponymously titled fifth studio album by American recording artist Ciara, which was released on July 9, 2013, by Sony Music Entertainment. This album is the artist's first release under Epic, since publicly asking the now-defunct Jive Records to release her from her contractual obligations. The singer cited a lack of label support and financial funding for her previous albums Fantasy Ride (2009) and Basic Instinct (2010). On this fifth studio album, Ciara is reunited with her long-term mentor and friend L.A. Reid, chairman of Epic Records. Reid is credited with discovering Ciara in 2003 along with signing her to his LaFace Records label and executive-producing her debut studio album, Goodies (2004).
On Ciara, the singer is reunited with music producers Rodney Jerkins and Jasper Cameron, who have respectively worked on previous Ciara singles and albums. The duo were joined by The Underdogs, Soundz, D'Mile, Oligee, Josh Abraham and Mike Will Made It, amongst others. Writing contributions come from the likes of singer-songwriters: Wynter Gordon, Livvi Franc and Ali Tamposi, along with a number of contributions from Ciara herself. Rappers Future and Nicki Minaj respectively have guest vocals on the album, whilst Ciara herself is listed as a featured artist on the song "Super Turnt Up", a record where she raps and takes credit for co-producing the song.
"One and One" is a song written by Billy Steinberg, Rick Nowels and Marie-Claire D'Ubaldo. The song was performed by Robert Miles (feat. Maria Nayler) and by Edyta Górniak.
"One and One" was the third single of Italian electronic dance musician Robert Miles, released on 4 November 1996 from his debut album Dreamland and his second hit, it features English singer Maria Nayler on vocals. "One and One" was Robert Miles second number one on the US dance charts.
Miles is known by some collectors of CD singles for the quotes he includes on his jewel case inserts, succinct expressions of what he was attempting to communicate in writing and producing the song. Of One and One Miles wrote:
...Sometimes, you don't even have the time to realize
what is happening to your life,
that it has already happened...
the world moves too fast...
let's recapture the essence of time."
The song was first recorded in 1996 by Polish singer Edyta Górniak. However, her version of the song was not released until 1997 when it appeared on her first international album, Edyta Górniak. The song was released as a single in Japan in 1997 and internationally in 1999.
One & One is an American 1970s award-winning original off-Broadway musical comedy by Dianne Adams (music and lyrics), Fred Bennett (book), and Richard O'Donnell (book, music and lyrics).
Produced by the Broadway-times Theatre Co., and directed by Jim Payne, One & One opened November 15, 1978 at The Carter Theatre, 250 West 43rd Street in the heart of Times Square.
One & One tells the story of a fading song and dance team Majeski & O’Reily that are forced to take on a woman partner to boost their notoriety. An old childhood friend, Julie Allyn, has blossomed into a talented beauty; they both fall in love with her with disastrous results. Through the decline of Vaudeville to the rise of the big Hollywood musicals, One & One is an homage to American entertainment with “...as good a score as any on Broadway today.”
In 1976, while attending Mansfield University, Dianne Adams (music and lyrics), Fred Bennett (book), and Richard O’Donnell (book, music, and lyrics) met, all sharing their adoration for the bygone years of Vaudeville, Burlesque, and the great MGM musicals. Two years later their musical comedy One & One was produced off-Broadway by the Broadway-times Theatre Co., and went on to receive two ASCAP Special Awards in 1978 and one in 1979, all under the category of musical theater.
And One is a German new wave, synthpop and EBM band founded by Steve Naghavi and Chris Ruiz in 1989.
The band formed after Steve Naghavi and Chris Ruiz met in 1989 at a Berlin club. Being fans of early EBM music, Naghavi and Ruiz decided to follow in the footsteps of new wave/synthpop band Depeche Mode by using two keyboards and a beatbox. Jason Ankeny of AllMusic called their 1990 single, "Metal Hammer", a "significant club hit". The duo became a trio with the addition of Alex Two, prior to the release of their debut album, Anguish in 1991. That same year, they were honored as the Best New Artist in Germany.
Going into the release of Anguish, they had already garnered a decent following through touring and appearances at various parties. With their debut release, they took home the Best New Artist award in Germany in 1991. Chris Ruiz left in 1992 (he would later return in 2001) while Steve Naghavi remained with the band. And One released three more albums with Machinery Records, Flop! (1992), Spot (1993) and I.S.T. (1994). The band left Machinery around 1996–1997 and signed to Virgin Schallplatten. And One would release four albums on this label between 1997 and 2003: Nordhausen (1997), 9.9.99 9 Uhr (1998), Virgin Superstar (2000) and Aggressor (2003).
The sky isn't always blue
The sun doesn't always shine
It's alright to fall apart sometimes, mmm
I am not always you
And you are not always mine
It's alright to fall apart sometimes
After all is said and done
One and one still is one
When we cry, when we laugh
I am half, you are half
The heart isn't always true
And I am not always fine
We all have an angry heart sometimes
After all is said and done
One and one still is one
When we cry, when we laugh
I am half, you are half
Look how far we have come
One and one still is
One moon (one moon)
One star (one star)
I love the one we are
One thread (one thread)
One line (one line)
Let's stand still in time
One moon (one moon)
One star (one star)
I love the one we are
One thread (one thread)
One line (one line)
That runs through our lives
After all is said and done
One and one still is one
When we cry, when we laugh
I am half, you are half
Look how far we have come
One and one still is one ah
