One Perfect Day

One Perfect Day is an Australian film released in 2004.

Plot

The central character of the film is Tommy Matisse; his name combines the title of The Who's 1969 rock opera Tommy and the last name of twentieth century French painter Henri Matisse.

Tommy is a Melbourne boy studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He is a violinist and composer who hears music in unusual sources such as the ambient noises of a train in the London Underground or the chirping of crickets. He is a rebel against the traditions of classical music and displays this by bringing a homeless woman living in the Underground on stage for a concert.

A sympathetic professor decides that he is the type of innovative artist needed to revive a dying opera artform. Having shocked opera's establishment, he returns home to Melbourne on the death of his younger sister Emma, who suffers a fatal overdose after experimenting with drugs at a rave dance party. He discovers a CD of her own mixes and decides to enter the genre of electronic music to follow the path she was pursuing in the hopes of discovering more about his sister and how she became involved in this dance world. Emma's death acts as a catalyst that drives Tommy and his girlfriend Alysse apart. In despair, Alysse falls prey to a sleazy entrepreneur named Hector Lee who owns a club called Trance-Zen-Dance and who is also a drug dealer. Hector Lee has a young assistant called Trig who is a VJ, and is always getting new footage and talent.

One Perfect Day (2013 film)

One Perfect Day (Hangul: 사랑의 가위바위보; RR: Sarangui Gawibawibo; lit. Rock, Paper, Scissors of Love) is a 2013 South Korean short film directed by Kim Jee-woon, his first in the romantic comedy genre.

Upon meeting the girl of his dreams (Park Shin-hye), a loser in love (Yoon Kye-sang) asks her to play Rock-paper-scissors with him.

The 35-minute short film first premiered on April 29, 2013 at a showcase in Times Square in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo District, and was then released online on April 30 on the website of outdoor clothing brand Kolon Sport, as well as portal sites Daum and YouTube.One Perfect Day was the second short film after Park Chan-wook's Day Trip to be commissioned and funded by Kolon Sport for its "Way to Nature Film Project," which marks the company's 40th anniversary.

Plot

A man named Un-cheol (Yoon Kye-sang) is looking for a girlfriend. He goes on a series of unsuccessful dates, culminating in a disastrous blind date with Yoo-jin (Park Soo-jin), and his awkward banter, stupid jokes, and complete insensitivity to her feelings, leads Yoo-jin to ditch him while they're playing the game Rock-paper-scissors. In a flashback to Un-cheol's childhood, his father had taught him Rock-paper-scissors and given him some life lessons. As Un-cheol morosely wanders the streets that night, he finds a missing dog, which he returns to its owner, Eun-hee (Park Shin-hye). She insists on giving him a monetary reward, but instead, he asks her to play Rock-paper-scissors with him—if he wins, she goes on a date with him, but if he loses or it's a draw, he walks away and never bothers her again.

One Perfect Day (song)

"One Perfect Day" is a song written by Phillip Buckle, David Hobson, and Paul van Dyk and recorded by Australian singer Lydia Denker as the theme to the 2004 film One Perfect Day (2004). Produced by Sam Melamed, the song is a pop rock love song. It was released as a CD single and maxi single on 16 February 2004 (see 2004 in music) and was the only song released from the soundtrack.

The music video for the song was directed by Paul Curry for Lightstream Films. It features minor video clips from the One Perfect Day film and shows Denker being chased by a man.

Perfect Day (Lou Reed song)

"Perfect Day" is a song written by Lou Reed in 1972, originally featured on Transformer, Reed's second post-Velvet Underground solo album, and as the B-side of his major hit, "Walk on the Wild Side". Its fame was given a boost in the 1990s when it was featured in the 1996 film Trainspotting, and after a star-studded version was released as a BBC charity single in 1997, that became the UK's number one single for three weeks. Reed re-recorded the song for his 2003 album The Raven.

A version by Duran Duran reached number 28 on the UK Singles Chart in 1995.

Recording and composition

The original recording, like the rest of the Transformer album, was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson (who also wrote the string arrangement and played piano on the track).

The song begins in its verse, which is a progression of major triads in descending perfect fifths, starting however on a minor triad. The song then explodes into the chorus, which is written in the parallel major key to the verse.

Perfect Day (Cascada album)

Perfect Day is the second studio album released by German Eurodance group Cascada. The entire album was produced by the group's two DJs, Yanou and DJ Manian. Like its predecessor, the album is comprised heavily of uptempo Eurodance tracks, many of which are cover songs. This album, however, features covers of songs from the early 2000s of the rock and country genres, with the exception of Because the Night (originally released by Patti Smith) which was released in 1978. Two edited tracks, "Endless Summer" and "I Will Believe It" that were previously recorded under the Siria name are also featured. Musically, the album is composed of Eurodance tracks with euphoric trance synths, beats that clock in over 140 beats per minute, and Europop lyrics. Lyrically, the albums is composed of love songs, dance floor anthems, and couples night out.

Critical reception of the album ranged from positive to negative, with many critics disliking the repetitive nature, that all the songs on the album sounded similar, and the lack of character and originality. The album has sold about 3 million copies worldwide. There was a total of five singles released from the album. Unlike their previous album, Perfect Day only had one successful single worldwide. "What Hurts the Most" (Original by Rascal Flatts) peaked in the top ten in six countries, including Austria and France and was certified gold in the United States for sales exceeding over 500,000 downloads. "What Do You Want from Me?" and "Because The Night" peaked in the top sixty in Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom. The last two singles, "Faded" and "Perfect Day", were released in the United States and Canada and failed to garner any chart success.
