"One Friend" is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Dan Seals. It was released in September 1987 as the first and only single from his compilation album The Best. It peaked at #1, becoming his seventh straight number-one single. This song was originally included on his 1984 album San Antone, and this version was the b-side to that album's single "(You Bring Out) The Wild Side of Me".
Seals re-recorded "One Friend" again for his 1995 acoustic album, In a Quiet Room, and a music video was filmed for that version the following year. It was directed by Tom Bevins, and it shows Seals singing and performing the song on his guitar while sitting by a bonfire. It was the last music video of Seals' career.
I always thought you were the best
I guess I always will
I always thought that we were blessed
And I feel that way still
Sometimes we took the hard road
But we always saw it through
If I had only one friend left
I'd want it to be you
Sometimes the world was on our side
Sometimes it wasn't fair
Sometimes it gave a helping hand
Sometimes we didn't care
'Cause when we were together
It made the dream come true
If I had only one friend left
I'd want it to be you
Someone who understands me
And knows me inside out
Helps keep me together
And believes without a doubt,
That I could move a mountain
Someone to tell it to
If I had only one friend left
I'd want it to be you
Someone
And knows me inside out
Helps keep me together
And believes without a doubt,
That I could move a mountain
Someone to tell it to
If I had only one friend left
