On the Last Day

On the Last Day (OtLD) was a five piece post-hardcore band from Seattle, Washington.

Biography

Soon after forming in 2003 in Seattle, On the Last Day started touring the local club scene, with the likes of Boys Don't Bleed, Up Falls Down, Aiden, Atreyu, and Deftones. With the help of Wil Francis of Aiden, the band was set up with talent scouts from many labels. As fate would have it, Victory Records (Aiden's label) signed the band in 2006. Prior to the release of the 2006 album Meaning in the Static, On the Last Day released Wars Like Whispers, an EP featuring Francis. Meaning in the Static has received mixed reviews from critics.

On the Last Day's first North American tour was in the summer of 2006 (10 August – 12 September) with New Jersey's pop-punk band Crash Romeo. The tour lasted for 33 days with 22 venues. The group toured Europe early in 2007.

Frank Gross and Aiden's Nick Wiggins were in a band together when they were younger called Bent Kactus

Geoff Walker left the band on May 24, 2007. Carson Allen (formerly of Escape the Fate and Devilyn Alaska) has been announced as the new vocalist. Geoff now has a new band called Again and Again.

The Last Day (Red Dwarf)

"The Last Day" is the sixth, and last, episode of science fiction sit-com Red Dwarf Series III, and the eighteenth in the series run. It premiered on the British television channel BBC2 on 19 December 1989. Written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, and directed by Ed Bye, the story is about Kryten's expiry date and how Lister decides to give him a last day to remember. The episode was re-mastered, along with the rest of the first three series, in 1998.

Plot

A message pod reaches Red Dwarf from Diva-Droid International, manufacturers of Kryten (Robert Llewellyn) and the 4000 series of mechanoids. It announces that Kryten's built-in expiry date is almost up and his in-built shut-down chip will automatically activate in twenty-four hours time. Kryten resigns himself to his fate, telling Lister (Craig Charles) he's going to get his reward in "Silicon Heaven". Lister tries to tell him there's no such place, to no avail. Lister is sickened that Kryten is forced to shut himself down just to make room for a newer model and is determined Kryten's going to enjoy his last day in a profitless and non-practical way (Kryten's definition of fun). He even goes to the trouble of building the robotic Marilyn Monroe kit that's been hanging around the ship for years, whilst Holly (Hattie Hayridge) knocks up a special android home brew using Vimto and liquid nitrogen.

Trousers

Trousers (pants in North America) are an item of clothing worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses).

In the UK the word "pants" generally means underwear and not trousers.Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK.

In most of the Western world, trousers have been worn since ancient times and throughout the Medieval period, becoming the most common form of lower-body clothing for adult males in the modern world, although shorts are also widely worn, and kilts and other garments may be worn in various regions and cultures. Breeches were worn instead of trousers in early modern Europe by some men in higher classes of society. Since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by women as well. Latter Days (comics)

Latter Days is the tenth and final novel in Canadian cartoonist Dave Sim's Cerebus comic book series. It is made up of issues #266-300 of Cerebus. It was collected as the 15th and 16th "phonebook" volumes, as Latter Days (#266-288, November 2003) and The Last Day (#289-300, June 2004).

The novel concludes Cerebus life, as Sim had long announced it would, and is generally considered the most difficult and problematic of the Cerebus novels.

Narrated by Cerebus from sometime later in his life, Latter Days is heavy in religious themes, and also features caricatures of the Three Stooges and Woody Allen.

Background

Sim had declared early on that Cerebus would chronicle the life leading up to death of its titular character. The Judge at the end of Church & State had foretold that Cerebus would "die alone, unmourned and unloved". The main Cerebus story came to an end with issue #200; the final 100 issues served as a dénouement, with Latter Days an "epilogue-to-the-epilogue".

At the end of Going Home, Cerebus comes to reject Jaka, the woman he has loved almost since the beginning of the series and with whom he has been travelling to his childhood home.

Last Day (song)

"Last Day" is a limited release single by the indie rock band Editors. It was released on vinyl as part of Record Store Day on Saturday 17 April 2010, and is limited to 1000 copies.

A video was released to coincide with the Record Store Day on 17 April 2010. The video predominately features the band rehearsals from the March/April shows and also shows some concert footage.

The b-side is an acoustic version of the song "Papillon" played live at Studio Brussel.
