The band On the Air were formed in the late 1970s, and were based in the Ealing area of West London. It included Simon Townshend, Mark Brzezicki and Tony Butler.
They released their first single Ready For Action in 1980.
There was also active in the 1980s a US band called On the Air, based in Los Angeles and consisting of all women: Jennifer Dorfman, Karin Coon, Jamie Garcia and Ann Bogen (original drummer Sue Chicko left by the time of their album). They had one 6-song EP on Pulse Records in 1986, which received some airplay on MTV.
