Jessica Beinecke

Jessica Beinecke [Chinese: 白洁 (Bai Jie)] (born about 1987) is an American educator, entertainer and journalist. She works for the Mandarin Chinese broadcast of Voice of America. Her program is OMG! 美语 (OMG! Meiyu or OMG! American English) which achieved widespread popularity in China and Taiwan. Her personality and program have been covered in both American and Chinese media. She is a graduate of the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism of Ohio University and received a graduate degree at Middlebury College in Vermont.

The Washington Post reports that in 2011 her video explaining sleep gunk that can be in your eyes when you wake up in the morning went viral.

OMG (Oh, My Girl!)

OMG (Oh, My Girl!) is a romantic comedy film produced by Philippines' Regal Entertainment and directed by Ploning helmer Dante Nico Garcia. The film is about friendship and love in the entertainment industry.

Judy Ann Santos stars as the famous actress named Darling, who was known in her childhood days as Opao. Ogie Alcasid plays Biboy, Darling's long-lost childhood friend who disguised as her aunt in order to meet her again.

Many of Santos' and Alcasid's friends in showbusiness are expected to appear in cameo roles, most notably Regine Velasquez (who conceptualized the film's story) and Sharon Cuneta (in her first appearance in a Regal movie).

OMG (eSports)

OMG (short for Oh My God) is a Chinese esports organization. Their League of Legends division was formed in May 2012. The team appeared in the League of Legends World Championship in 2013 and 2014.

History

In May 2012, the Chinese eSports organization OMG picked up their first League of Legends team. That roster was short lived as the organization picking up Noah's Ark in August. One of their first major tournaments they attended was CPL Shenyang 2012. Able to conquer the Korean team of MVP White, they went on to lose against veteran Chinese powerhouse, Invictus Gaming 2-1, and followed up by facing MVP White again but losing the rematch, placing 3rd in the tournament. The following months led to strong showings at various small events and tournaments. A big opportunity to showcase their talents was when they would replace Azubu Frost in G-League 2012 Season 2. They were able to make it out of groups with a 1-2 record but lose first round of bracket stage to Team WE.i-Rocks placing 5th.

Catalysis

Catalysis (/kəˈtælᵻsᵻs/) is the increase in the rate of a chemical reaction due to the participation of an additional substance called a catalyst (/ˈkætəlᵻst/). With a catalyst, reactions occur faster and require less activation energy. Because catalysts are not consumed in the catalyzed reaction, they can continue to catalyze the reaction of further quantities of reactant. Often only tiny amounts are required.

Technical perspective

In the presence of a catalyst, less free energy is required to reach the transition state, but the total free energy from reactants to products does not change. A catalyst may participate in multiple chemical transformations. The effect of a catalyst may vary due to the presence of other substances known as inhibitors or poisons (which reduce the catalytic activity) or promoters (which increase the activity). The opposite of a catalyst, a substance that reduces the rate of a reaction, is an inhibitor.

Catalyzed reactions have a lower activation energy (rate-limiting free energy of activation) than the corresponding uncatalyzed reaction, resulting in a higher reaction rate at the same temperature and for the same reactant concentrations. However, the detailed mechanics of catalysis is complex. Catalysts may affect the reaction environment favorably, or bind to the reagents to polarize bonds, e.g. acid catalysts for reactions of carbonyl compounds, or form specific intermediates that are not produced naturally, such as osmate esters in osmium tetroxide-catalyzed dihydroxylation of alkenes, or cause dissociation of reagents to reactive forms, such as chemisorbed hydrogen in catalytic hydrogenation.

Catalyst (TV program)

Catalyst is the ABC's primary science journalism television series and the only science show on primetime television in Australia. Launched in 2001, it replaced Quantum, which had ceased the previous year. Catalyst is regularly broadcast on ABC 1 at 8:00 pm on Tuesdays and at 11:30 am Saturdays. Also repeated on ABC News 24 on Saturdays at 4:30 pm.

Catalyst celebrated its tenth year of production in 2010.
