Omega (Ѡ ѡ or Ѡ ѡ; italics: Ѡ w or Ѡ ѡ) is a letter used in the early Cyrillic alphabet. Its name and form are derived from the Greek letter Omega (Ω ω).
Unlike Greek, the Slavic languages had only a single /o/ sound, so Omega was little used compared to the letter On (О о), descended from the Greek letter Omicron. In the older ustav writing Omega was used mainly for its numeric value of 800, and rarely appeared even in Greek words. In later semi-ustav manuscripts it was used for decorative purposes, along with the broad version (Ꙍ ꙍ) as well as the Broad On (Ѻ ѻ).
Modern Church Slavonic has developed strict rules for the use of these letterforms.
Another variation of o is the ornate or beautiful omega, used as an interjection, “O!”. It is represented in Unicode 5.1 by the misnamed character omega with titlo (Ѽ ѽ).
Antonio Peter de la Rosa (born January 17, 1978) better known by his stage name Omega "El Fuerte" or simply Omega, is a Dominican singer and songwriter. He is a modern Merengue artist based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Since 2007, Omega has enjoyed increased popularity in the Dominican Republic and with Dominican-Americans across the United States. He has also penetrated music markets in Spain, Italy and Latin American.
Omega has helped create and popularize a new form of Merengue, called Merengue Urbano or Merengue de Calle. It is a blend of merengue with Hip hop, Rap and R&B. This new genre has been adopted by many artists from diverse backgrounds such as Cuban-American Pitbull and Colombian-born Shakira.
Omega is the second studio album by Alyson Avenue, and the band's final album with lead vocalist Anette Olzon. It was released on May 6, 2004, by the label AOR Heaven. It was re-released on July 14, 2009, along with their first album Presence of Mind. Omega II comes with five exclusive bonus tracks with Anette Olzon, and their first single "I Am (Your Pleasuremaker)".
Before being selected by Nightwish as their lead singer in 2007, Anette Olzon fronted Alyson Avenue a Swedish melodic rock band, subsequently releasing two substantial studio albums. Omega is the second one, originally released in 2004.
Those experienced in the side projects of `Nightwish' members, probably noted Anette's guest appearance on "Brother Firetribe's" second album (AOR band featuring `Nightwish' guitarist and `Leverage' vocalist). The sound of "Alyson Avenue" is fairly similar to that of "...Firetribe" with a significant differentiation in the fact that "...Avenue" is very much guitar oriented melodic hard rock and not as key-driven. In fact the guitar parts are surprisingly thick, incorporating rhythm patterns and solos which remind one of late 80s `Whitesnake' (on their AOR moments).
’ve been around these fields and fires
I’ve been scorned by love’s desires
These old wheels take me across town
This is just a starting back
All the years spent watching clocks sets
Got me wondering, spinning around.
All I want is to keep on watching
These scenes and easy miles as they’re calling
And you in the front seat
The sound of falling
As the world goes by
These windows I just want to keep watching
We headed off to inri
We Watched stellers on the balcony
From our fenced in little backyard
You said that times were getting though
And I said yes they are my love
But you can rest now I’ll keep guard
All I want is to keep on watching
These scenes and easy miles as they’re calling
And you in the front seat
The sound of falling
As the world goes by
These windows I just want to keep watching
Yeah, oh woo oh hey yeahh
In my shirt pocket I carry these dreams and
There is a certain twilight seems
But sometimes I get lost with all the other things
There’s a light post across the street that
Gives off thin light blue-ish green
And I wonder; have we heard the reckoning?
The reckoning….
All I want is to keep on watching
These scenes and easy miles as they’re calling
And you in the front seat
The sound of falling
As the world goes by
These windows I just want to keep watching
All I want is to keep on watching
These scenes and easy miles as they’re calling
And you in the front seat
The sound of falling
As the world goes by
These windows I... oh yeah-y yeah
