Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo (born February 28, 1986) is an American socialite. In 2009, Palermo came to prominence after being cast in the reality television series The City, which documented the personal and professional lives of Whitney Port and her friends.

Early life

The daughter of real estate developer Douglas E. Palermo, who is of Southern Italian descent, and interior designer Lynn Hutchings, Palermo grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. As a child, she attended Nightingale-Bamford School in New York. Palermo graduated from St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Connecticut where she was on the field hockey team. She attended the American University of Paris for a year and studied media at The New School in New York.

Career

Palermo initially denied rumors in 2008 that she would be a part of The City, a spin-off of MTV's television show The Hills but later confirmed she was a cast member. She agreed to star in the series to familiarize herself with acting. The series debuted on December 29, 2008, and documents the lives of the cast members in New York City. It was reported that Palermo was paid $12,000 per episode at the time. As part of the show, Palermo worked in the PR department for Diane von Furstenberg and later the accessories department at Elle. The second part of the first season debuted in September 2009. She was given a bigger role and more air time. The City returned for a second and final season in 2010, in which Palermo was given reporting duties for Elle.com.

Palermo

Palermo (Italian: [paˈlɛrmo], Sicilian: Palermu, Latin: Panormus, from Greek: Πάνορμος, Panormos, Arabic: بَلَرْم‎, Balarm; Phoenician: זִיז, Ziz) is a city in Insular Italy, the capital of both the autonomous region of Sicily, The Metropolitan City of Palermo had a population of 1,300,000. The city is noted for its history, culture, architecture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its existence; it is over 2,700 years old. Palermo is located in the northwest of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The city was founded in 734 BC by the Phoenicians as Ziz ('flower'). Palermo then became a possession of Carthage, before becoming part of the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire and eventually part of the Byzantine Empire, for over a thousand years. The Greeks named the city Panormus meaning 'complete port'. From 831 to 1072 the city was under Arab rule during the Emirate of Sicily when the city first became a capital. The Arabs shifted the Greek name into Balarm, the root for Palermo's present-day name. Following the Norman reconquest, Palermo became the capital of a new kingdom (from 1130 to 1816), the Kingdom of Sicily and the capital of the Holy Roman Empire under Frederick II Holy Roman Emperor and Conrad IV of Germany, King of the Romans. Eventually Sicily would be united with the Kingdom of Naples to form the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies until the Italian unification of 1860.

Palermo (Buenos Aires Underground)

Palermo is a station on Line D of the Buenos Aires Underground in Palermo, Buenos Aires. It is located at the intersection of Avenida Santa Fe and Godoy Cruz.

It is a transfer point for the Metrobús that runs along Juan B. Justo avenue and Palermo station on the San Martín Line commuter rail service.

Palermo (film)

Palermo is a 1937 Argentine comedy film directed by Arturo S. Mom and starring Nedda Francy, José Gola and Orestes Caviglia. The film's title refers to the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The story was written by Guillermo Salazar Altamira, a sports journalist.

Synopsis

A petty criminal attempts to fleece a wealthy horse racing fan with the help of a beautiful woman who turns out to be an undercover member of the police.
