old man was a bimonthly magazine published by the Union of Swiss Short Wave Amateurs as the membership journal of the organization. The magazine covered topics related to amateur radio. The magazine was published with articles in three languages: German, Italian, and French. The magazine drew its subscription base primarily from Switzerland. The journal was published in A5 paper size with a full color cover and black-and-white print on un-coated newsprint inside. The final issue of the magazine was published in November/December 2007, after which the organization discontinued publication in favor of a new membership journal called HB Radio.

Star Brand

The Star Brand is the name of a number of similar fictional comic book objects of power all of which exist in the multiverse created by the shared universes of Marvel Comics. Two of these Star Brands have been prominently featured in two separate series published by Marvel.

The original Star Brand is a star-shaped tattoo-like mark that first appeared in the comic book series Star Brand, published by Marvel Comics as a part of its New Universe imprint from 1986 to 1989. All of the other Star Brands are alternates of this original version. The Star Brand gave its bearer infinite, god-like powers, limited only by the wielder's imagination. After the end of the series and the New Universe imprint, the Star Brand made appearances in Marvel's main shared universe, the Marvel Universe.

The second Star Brand is a glowing glyph, shaped like the original Star Brand and giving identical powers. This Star Brand is featured in newuniversal, a series featuring a universe that is a reimagining of the original New Universe that began publication in 2006.

Black Widow (ride)

Black Widow is a Zamperla Giant Discovery ride that pendulums riders at Kennywood. It opened on June 8, 2012.

History

In late June 2011, Kennywood listed its Pitt Fall ride for sale with the International Rides Management brokerage company. On December 15, 2011, Kennywood announced that Black Widow will be added for the 2012 season, replacing the Pitt Fall. Black Widow officially opened to the public on June 8, 2012. If one stands on the south end of the ride, a delayed breeze follows the ride's course.

Ride

The giant circle swings in a pendulum motion while rotating counterclockwise. At the peak of the swing, riders reach a height of 146 feet (45 m) above the ground and experience weightlessness. Black Widow stands at 90 feet (27 m) tall but reaches a height of 146 feet (45 m) in full swing with an angle of 120 degrees from the center. The pendulum motion propels riders back and forth at 68 miles per hour (109 km/h).

Plot

Peter Denver (Van Heflin) is a renowned Broadway producer attending a party—hosted by the viciously haughty and celebrated actress Carlotta "Lottie" Marin (Ginger Rogers) and her quiet husband Brian Mullen (Reginald Gardiner)—when he meets Nancy "Nanny" Ordway (Peggy Ann Garner). Ordway is a seemingly naïve, 20-year-old, aspiring writer, who hopes to make it big in New York. She convinces a reluctant Denver to let her use his apartment to work during the day, while his wife, Iris (Gene Tierney), also a famous actress, is away, but with her permission. After the Denvers return from the airport and find Nancy hanging dead in their bathroom, a variety of people Ordway has recently met in New York begin to reveal deeper and darker connections with her. Lt. Bruce (George Raft), the detective assigned to the case, soon discovers that this apparent suicide was in fact a homicide and believes that Denver, quickly suspected of having an affair with Ordway, is the murderer. Denver evades arrest and seeks clues to discover the real murderer; the case becomes cluttered when he and Lt. Bruce independently realize that Ordway's dealings in New York have not been as innocent as her superficial personality.
